Mounting and Installation
Plaster Frame Collar Rotation Adjustment
1. If adjustment of the rotational alignment of the
collar is necessary, loosen the collar centering
thumbnut thumbscrew and the collar locking
thumbnut (Figure 1.). For use of RA4X4 with
P406TAT / P408ICAT housing, the collar centering
thumbscrew and collar locking thumbnut have
a different location (Figure 2.). Rotate the
collar to the desired position and then tighten the
collar locking thumbnut. Do not tighten the collar
centering thumbnut once the rotation disc has
been changed from the factory set position.
Rough In
1. Cutout an opening for the collar.
2. Using the template provided, cut around the collar
so that there is a 5/8˝ gap between the collar and
the ceiling – 7-3/4˝ overall for RA6X6 (Figure 3.);
6-1/2˝ overall for RA4X4 (Figure 4.). If needed,
lower the collar by loosening the collar locking
screws, and then hand-tighten the screws to
secure the collar in the correct position
3. Return the collar to the most upper position and
secure in place.
4. Attach the rimless adapter to the housing using
the four housing mounting screws (Figure 5.).
Continue to tighten the housing mounting screws
until the perforated frame of the rimless adapter
is loosely touching the ceiling surface. DO NOT
completely sandwich the ceiling at this time.
5. Remove the overspray protector to access the
collar, but do not discard. Lower the collar and
securely attach to the rimless adapter. Ensure there
is no gap between the bottom of the collar and the
rimless adapter, and that the collar is attached flush to
the rimless adapter.
6. The gunsights provided on the rimless adapter can be
used to ensure that the rimless adapter is mounted
in-line with the rest of the installation. If necessary,
rotate the collar to line-up and make adjustments as
necessary.
