Fall arrest system
For this purpose the following Personal Protec-
tive Equipment (PPE) is needed:
•
1 x Twist anchor (16680);
•
1 x Full body harness complying with EN
361, for example one of the Static-series;
•
1 x Lanyard with energy absorber with
maximum length 2,0 m (6.6 ft) complying
with EN 355, for example Arrest white or
Arrest white XL (16295/16300).
In case the twist anchor is used as a single at-
tachment point for a fall arrest system the user
has to respect the minimum clearance height
that is needed in case of a fall.
This can be calculated according to the follow-
ing formula: Min. clearance below the feet of
user = A + B + C + d + e
A
Person height
Harness stretch (0,4 m/1.3 ft for
B
XSPlatforms harness - complying with
EN 361)
C
Absorber stretch (max. 1,75 m/5.7 ft –
complying with EN 355)
d
Lanyard length (max. 2,0 m/6.6 ft –
complying with EN 354)
e
Safety margin (1,0 m/3.3 ft – complying
with EN 355)
5. Materials
Components for the Twist anchor are produced
in aluminum and AISI 304/316 stainless steel.
The materials that are used for this product are
100% recyclable.
Composition of AISI 316 stainless steel:
•
AISI 316 stainless steel (16-18% chro-
mium, 11-14% nickel, 2-3% molybdenum)
has greater corrosion resistance, is more
resistant to salt corrosion and is widely
used in the chemical industry.
All materials used for XSPlatforms anchor
points, including the Twist anchor, comply with
various standards and have been corrosion
tested according to ISO 9227:2006. Corrosion
of the base material is not permitted. Corro-
sion present on the metal components of the
anchor will affect the operation of the product,
or the proper functioning of moving parts. A
white film is acceptable.
6. Usage restrictions
During use, NEVER:
•
Attach the Twist anchor to an unsure
structure (wooden or aluminum frames).
•
Attach more than one karabiner to the
hook of the safety eye.
•
Hold more than one user on the
Twist anchor.
•
Use the Twist anchor for hoisting
purposes.
•
Modify the Twist anchor in any way.
Extreme temperatures
When installing a Twist anchor in an environ-
ment with extreme temperatures, the anchor
must be carefully inspected before use for any
deformation. If an Twist anchor freezes, it is
strictly forbidden to heat the anchor point to
temperatures above 60°C/140°F as this can
damage the anchor.
Mechanical load
The Twist anchor is only suitable for use as
an anchor point for fall protection, such as:
restraint system, fall arrest system, positioning
or as an attachment point for a mobile lifeline.
Any other type of loading must be avoided to
prevent damage to or deformation of the Twist
anchor.
This means the Twist anchor is not suitable
as a support point for hoisting!
Chemical substances
Acids, caustic agents, and environments con-
taining resinous substances can damage an-
chor components and diminish their strength.
Corrosion
Do not expose the Twist anchor to corrosive
environments for long periods. Organic sub-
stances and salty water in particular will cause
metal components to corrode. If the Twist
anchor must be regularly used in corrosive
environments, you must inspect (and maintain)
it more frequently.
7. Strength requirements
Anchor points such as the Twist anchor and
their required strengths depend on the applica-
tion and the standard that applies to that use.
The required strengths may vary depending on
the standard. An anchor point therefore fulfills
the requirements according to the European
