The Pocket Memos LFH 0388, LFH 0488 and LFH 0588 are battery operated machines for
speech recording and playback. The LFH 0388/0488 operate either with two 1.5 V Alkaline
dry batteries LR 6, size AA or with two rechargeable batteries, type LFH 0153. The LFH 0588
operates either with two 1.5 V Alkaline dry batteries LR 03, size AAA or with two rechargea-
ble batteries, type LFH 0154. The record medium is the well known MINI-CASSETTE
LFH 0005 (2x15 min.) or LFH 0007 (2x30 min.).
The automatic gain control and the built-in sensitivity switch on LFH 0588 and LFH 0488
allows these machines to be used for both, dictation and conference recording without the
need of special accessories due to the very high sensitivity from as far away as 5 meters
down to as close as 10 cm.
A dedicated electronic circuitry offers VOICE ACTIVATED RECORDING (VA), a speech con-
trolled start/stop operating in RECORD mode. On LFH 0488 and LFH 0588 the red record
LED starts lighting up only in case the speech level will be high enough.
Markings, on LFH 0588 and LFH 0488 only, can be activated with only one key-button in
RECORD mode: End of letter and priority with LFH 0588, end of letter only with LFH 0488.
On LFH 0588 the kind of marking is shown on the LCD.
On LFH 0588 and LFH 0488 the red record LED indicates also too low battery voltage; it will
extinguish at a level of < 2.1 V battery voltage in RECORD mode. Simultaneously a short war-
ning signal is generated (200 ms). On LFH 0588 a built-in battery check indicates the condi-
tion of the battery by 3 LEDs.
An external 3 V-power supply, type LFH 0142, can be connected to the external power sup-
ply socket. Automatically the inserted batteries will be disconnected by the external power
supply plug. Where rechargeable batteries LFH 0153 or LFH 0154 have been inserted, inter-
nal recharging takes place automatically.
These Pocket Memos are also equipped with an input socket (2.5 mm) to connect an ear-
phone (e. g. type LFH 0131) to. A further input socket (2.5 mm) provides connection possi-
bility of either an external microphone (e. g. type LFH 0172) or an acoustic coupler LFH 0163.
