Read the complete manual before attempting installation and activating the system.
1. DESCRIPTION
1.1. IR bus push buttons
The bus push button is a three-position push button with an integrated infrared receiver. There is a position 'up',
'down' and a neutral position, to which the push button always automatically returns.
This infrared receiver can be controlled by the infrared hand-held transmitter (05-088) or the infrared Pronto
(05-090-10).
The bus push buttons have the familiar appearance of the Niko switches. In the Nikobus system however, they
are not used as switches but as data transmitters. A Nikobus push button is mounted in a single standard flush
mounting box for screw fixing. Mounting under multiple cover plates requires no additional flush mounting
boxes. The number of Nikobus push buttons can be extended without drilling or channelling work. The Nikobus
push buttons do not require any setting whatsoever. The functions of the bus push buttons are not determined
by the push buttons themselves, but by the settings the installer makes on the module during programmation.
The functions are linked to the bus push buttons simply by pressing the buttons. When activating a button, a
telegram is sent to the module via the bus. The telegram carries the address of the bus push button and the
switch information. The telegram transmission is accomplished by means of current modulation. If the bus push
button is pressed for over 8s., the telegram is automatically interrupted and the bus is released again.

1.2. IR bus push buttons with identical addresses
Normally, each bus push button and IR bus push button has a unique number, which means that each bus push
button and IR bus push button can call different actions. However, if you want the IR bus push button to call the
same actions from different places without programming each time, you can use the IR bus push buttons with
identical address. This way, only one IR bus push button needs to be programmed. The IR bus push buttons
with identical address will automatically take over these actions. Determine the number of IR bus push buttons
with identical address and order them under one reference (e.g. 05-091-01).

2. TECHNICAL DATA
Range: .......................................10m
Opening angle: ...........................45°
Ambient temperature (t a ): ............0 to 50°C
Closed-circuit voltage: .................9V DC (SELV, safety extra low voltage)
Max. operating time: ...................8s.
Connection to the Nikobus: ..........two-wire connection (fig.1)
The IR bus push button requires an external power supply.
Nominal power supply: ................12V~ (-25%, +50% unloaded)
Current consumption at 12V~: .....10mA (standby; LED lights feebly)
30mA (peak; LED lights for 100%)
Note: the transformer must be approved for safety extra low voltage (SELV).
3. OPERATION
The LED continuously lights feebly in standby mode, so you easily recognize the push button in the dark. If you
press one of the 4 control keys, the LED lights fully for the time the Nikobus telegram is sent.
If you press a control key for over ±8s., the transmission stops: the LED then returns to standby mode. If you
press several control keys simultaneously, the Nikobus telegram of the last key pressed is sent.
The LED blinks upon receipt of a correct IR signal code:
- blinking slowly: receipt of a channel selection code. No Nikobus telegram is sent, the LED only blinks to confirm
correct receipt.
- blinking quickly: receipt of a Nikobus telegram. The LED blinks quickly when sending a Nikobus telegram that
belongs to a received IR signal code. Before a Nikobus telegram is sent, the bus push button checks whether
the bus is free. If it is not free, no Nikobus telegram is sent. The LED returns to standby mode. The received
IR signal code is not saved and must therefore be repeated when the bus is free again. The LED does not
respond upon receipt of an unknown IR signal code.

5. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Several receivers within the same room have to be placed outside each other's range.
Avoid exposion to direct radiation from light sources such as the sun, light bulbs and HF fluorescent lighting.
These light sources reduce the sensitivity of the bus push buttons.
On a multiple wall mounted printed circuit board (PCB), a combination with the bus push button with LED
(05-061-01) is not possible.
6. INSTALLATION
(fig.2)
A Nikobus push button can be screwed onto a simple standard flush mounting box, irrespective of whether a
simple or multiple wall mounted PCB is used. The bus push button is mounted on the wall mounted PCB with a
central screw. Contact springs on the back of the bus push buttons provide the electrical connection between
the wall mounted PCB and the push buttons. The wall mounted PCB is connected to the bus via a connector on
the back of the wall mounted PCB. This enables to screw off the bus push buttons without having to disconnect
the bus wiring.
7. LEGAL WARNINGS
- The installation has to be carried out by a qualified person and in compliance with the statutory regulations.
- This user manual has to be handed over to the user. It has to be included in the electrical installation file and
has to be passed on to any new owners. Additional copies are available on the Niko website or via the support
service.
- During installation, the following has to be taken into account (not limited to list below):
- The statutory laws, standards and regulations;
- The state of the art technique at the moment of installation;
- This user manual, which must be read within the scope of each specific installation, only states general
regulations;
- The rules of proper workmanship
- In case of questions, you can consult Niko's support service or contact a registered control organisation.
