Never place a television set in an unstable location. A television set may fall, causing
serious personal injury or death. Many injuries, particularly to children, can be avoided by
taking simple precautions such as:
- Use cabinets or stands recommended by the manufacturer of the television set.
- Only use furniture that can safely support the television set and equip the television set
with a set of safety straps or similar products to anchor the television set to a wall or a
similarly immovable support.
- Ensure the television set is not overhanging the edge of the supporting furniture.
- Do not place the television set on tall furniture (for example, on top of cupboards or
bookcases) If you decide you must place the television set on tall furniture, absolutely
do not do so without anchoring BOTH the furniture AND the television set to a wall or a
similarly immovable support.
- Do not place the television set on cloth or other materials situated between the base of
the television set and the supporting furniture.
- Educate and remind children about the dangers of climbing on or near any furniture on
which the television is situated to reach the television set or its controls or for any other
