Introduction

The Iridium Edge® Pro supports a Java programmable platform that allows Iridium partners to
program the Iridium Edge Pro to meet market specific requirements. It consists of a power supply,
dedicated Iridium antenna, dedicated GPS antenna, BLE, four configurable inputs/outputs, RS232,
RS485, and CAN bus in an environmentally sealed enclosure. It also contains an Iridium Short Burst
Data
®
(SBD
®
) modem which allows remote devices to send and receive satellite messages from
anywhere in the world.
Iridium's Service Providers typically sell complete solutions to meet a market requirement. For
hardware, Iridium's Service Providers typically bundle cables and other remote equipment with the
specially programmed Iridium Edge Pro device. For services, Iridium Service Providers typically
bundle Iridium's satellite services with a backend application that sends and receives messages to
Iridium's gateway.
Development documentation and software development tools are available to qualified Iridium
partners. Any Iridium partner interested in more information on the Iridium Edge Pro should contact
their Iridium account manager.
