GETTING STARTED

WORKING AREA: ALLOW ENOUGH SPACE TO ACCOMMODATE FOOD AND THE ROTISSERIE SPIT ROD ASSEMBLY, IN A CLEAN
ENVIRONMENT.
LOADING THE SPIT ROD
1. To load the spit rod, slide one of the meat forks, prongs facing inward, onto the spit rod.
2. Feed the spit rod through the centre of your meat, then slide the second meat fork, with prongs toward the food, onto the spit rod.
BALANCING THE SPIT ROD
3. Before tightening the meat forks, centre the meat on the spit rod, then push the meat forks firmly together. Make sure the load
is evenly balanced on the spit rod. Proper weight balancing will ensure evenness of cooking and prolong the life of the rotisserie
motor.
4. Tighten the meat fork 'wing bolts.
ATTENTION: YOUR VERMONT CASTINGS ROTISSERIE COMES WITH A COUNTERWEIGHT TO BALANCE THE SPIT ROD
WHEN COOKING LARGE OR IRREGULAR SHAPED FOOD ITEMS.
TIP: FOR POULTRY, TIE WINGS AND LEGS TO THE BODY USING BUTCHER STRING, SECURING LOOSE PORTIONS AND
PREVENTING FLOPPING AROUND WHILE TURNING.
5. Position a rotisserie basting pan on top of the barbecue heat tents.
TIP: THIS BASTING PAN WILL COLLECT JUICES AND DRIPPINGS FOR BASTING AND ADDING ADDITIONAL FLAVOUR. YOU
CAN ADD HERBS, SPICES, GARLIC, WINE AND MORE, TO INFUSE FLAVOUR AND MOISTURE INTO MEATS.
INSTALLING THE SPIT ROD
WARNING: AVOID BURNS, DO NOT LIGHT THE BARBECUE UNTIL THE SPIT ROD HAS BEEN POSITIONED CORRECTLY.
6. Insert the spit rod into the barbecue casting and motor as illustrated in this manual (See page 7 Step 4B and page 11 Step 6B).
7. Plug-in the Motor (A) and press the 'ON' button to ensure the rotisserie is balanced and turns smoothly. Use your Counter Weight
(J) to do any last-minute adjustments.
8. Preheat your grill turn all controls to 'HIGH' with the lid closed – using all main burners for the first five to ten minutes.
9. Once your grill is preheated, prepare your grill for indirect cooking by turning the middle control(s) to the 'OFF' position.
TIP: DURING COOKING, TEMPERATURES CAN BE BETTER MAINTAINED WITH THE LID CLOSED. ONLY OPEN THE LID FOR
PERIODIC CHECKS, FOR BASTING AND TO ADD ADDITIONAL LIQUIDS TO THE BASTING PAN IF REQUIRED.
NOT SUITABLE FOR STOVETOPS OR MICROWAVE, METAL UTENSILS MAY DAMAGE SURFACE. DO NOT EXCEED
TEMPERATURE OF 450°F (230°C).
