Bei Stromausfall ermöglicht die gespeicherte Kälte die Konservierung der Lebensmittel für eine bestimmte Zahl von Stunden (zum Beispiel bei Außentemperatur +32°C hält die Kälte 6 Stunden vor). Der Kältespeicher reicht nicht für die Konservierung tiefgekühlter Produkte aus. Man kann den Kältespeicher benutzen, indem man einfach den Kühlschrank ausschaltet.
