Step 4: Sealing the slots
y
To avoid rainwater from entering the chimney the 4 slots must be sealed with silicone.
1.4.4
Single fan on brick chimney
Step 1: Prepare fan location
y
The installation procedure is the same whether the lue is round
or square. If a clay tile lue liner is installed, it might stick up a few
inches. Cut it back so it is lush with or no more than 10 mm above
the chimney crown.
y
Measure the inside diameter of the lue, cut a corresponding hole
in the mineral wool mat leaving a minimum distance of 20 mm to
any side of the mineral wool mat.
y
The aluminium foil on the mineral wool mat must face upwards
(against fan base).
Step 2: Preparation of fan
y
Locate the installation brackets in the slots going through the fan
base part, using the bolts and nuts supplied to secure the brackets.
If the lue diameter is larger than the chimney fan inlet, the bracket
can be installed underneath the base part. Note that the bolts
must be installed from the bottom side.
y
Adjust the inal position of the brackets ensuring that there is clea-
rance between the brackets and the lue wall. Approximately 5-10
mm. Ensure the brackets do not touch the lue wall, otherwise
direct contact may generate vibration noise.
Step 3: Attaching the fan
y
The chimney fan is now ready for installation on the top of the
chimney. Place mineral wool mat with the aluminium foil facing
upwards on the top of the chimney, and place the fan on top of
the mat.
y
Mount the safety wire in the chimney. Use the supplied screw
and rawlplug for securing it to the chimney . Then mount the wire
through the hole in the base plate and into the wire lock.
y
Tighten the safety wire slightly and tighten the wire lock , so that
the chimney fan is secured when opened for service and cleaning
purposes
