Mounting Guidelines
The IRPI800M is designed for use indoors. The sensor can be
corner, wall or bracket-mounted (see the Accessories section).
Ensure that the sensor has a clear line of sight to the protected
area; infrared light cannot penetrate solid objects, and the sensor
must «see» an area in order to detect a moving person.
The sensor should be pointed into the interior of the room, and
be placed away from windows and heating/cooling sources.
Additionally, the sensor should be fixed to a surface where the
temperature is similar to that of the area being protected, and not
pointed at direct or reflected sunlight.
Tamper Switches
The IRPI800M is equipped with a normally-closed cover tamper.
This tamper opens when the cover is opened.
A wall tamper switch is also provided. To use the wall tamper
switch, remove the PCB and the Tamper Knockout located
toward the bottom of the back cover (see Step 2).
Before mounting the sensor, install a tamper screw in the wall so
that it protrudes approximately 6 mm (1/4") above the mounting
surface. Replace the PCB and mount the sensor on the wall, over
the tamper screw. The screw will depress the back tamper lever as
shown.
LED Operation
To Enable the alarm LED, turn switch S3 to OFF.
To Disable the alarm LED, turn switch S3 to ON. The LED will
temporarily remain enabled for 10 to 12 minutes. This feature
gives the installer time to walk-test the unit as explained below.

To restart the 10-minute walk-test, activate the tamper switch by
opening and closing the cover.

alarm.
Walk-Test Mode
After applying the power to the sensor, it will warm up for up
to 2.5 minutes. After this, when the cover is closed (operation
of the tamper switch) the product enters into walk-test mode
for 10 minutes. The LED remains active whatever the
position of the switch and each detection results in an alarm
signal being sent. To restart the 10 minute test period, operate
the tamper switch by opening and closing the cover.
Battery Fault
The sensor signals a battery failure at the control panel when
the battery needs to be replaced. The sensor will continue to
operate for up to one week after this.
Masking the Lens
If the installation requires the blocking of certain segments, it
is possible to mask part of the lens with the masking material
provided. If you require only look-down beams, you can mask
the entire lens.
To mask segments of the lens:
Open the sensor housing (see section 2 for instructions).
Pull up on the black casing latches with two fingers and
remove the casing with the other hand (1).
Pull outward on the lens flange of the existing lens (single-
slotted) and remove the lens (2)

Select the lens segments to be masked, and place mask no.
K9855 over the inside of the lens, selecting the appropriate
mask segments to cover the Long, Intermediate or Lower
Range of the lens.

Note : The distances in the illustrations do not represent the
maximum detection distances. A walk-test is required after
mounting to ensure proper detection.
