SAFETY INFORMATION

Listed below are som e very im portant facts that you should follow . They are listed
for your protection and safety.
1. H ave your dealer show you w here the m ain gas shut-off valve is located and
how to shut it off in an em ergency.
2. U se your cooktop only for its intended use.
W A R N IN G ! N E V E R use this appliance as a space heater to heat or w arm the
room . Doing so m ay result in carbon m onoxide poisoning and overheating
of the appliance.
3. If the cooktop is near a w indow , proper precautions should be taken to prevent
curtains from blow ing over burners creating a fire hazard.
4. K eep the area around the cooktop clean and cle a r o f a ny com bustible
m aterials, gasoline or other flam m able vapors and liquids.
5. D o not leave children alone or unsupervised in area w here cooktop is being
used. The top burners, burner grates and other areas near the burners becom e
hot enough to cause severe burns.
6. C hildren should be taught that the cooktop is not a toy . T hey should not be
allow ed to play w ith the controls or any other parts of the appliance.
7. D o not store item s of interest to children in cabinets above or near the cooktop.
C hildren clim bing on the appliance to reach item s could be seriously injured.
8. D o not w ear loose fitting clothing or long-hanging sleeved clothing w hile using
the appliance. If they contact the open flam e of the burner, they could ignite and
cause severe burns.
9. U se only dry potholders to rem ove hot utensils. U sing dam p potholders on hot
surfaces could result in burns to hands. D o not use a tow el or bulky cloth for a pot
holder. The cloth could contact open flam e and catch fire.
10. N ever heat an unopened container. Pressure build-up w ithin the container
can cause it to explode.
11. K eep cooktop clean. The build-up of grease and food boil-over and/or spillage
can create a fire hazard.
12. A void using your cooktop or any other appliance if you sm ell gas. D o not
assum e that the sm ell of gas in your R V is norm al. Any tim e you detect the odor
of gas, it is to be considered life threatening and corrected im m ediately. E xtinguish
any open flam es including cigarettes and evacuate all persons from the vehicle.

13. Turn pan handles inw ard or tow ard back of cooktop and out o f the w ay of
people w alking past cooktop and/or out of th e reach of children. D o not turn
handles to w here they are over the burners.
14. D o not use w a te r on grease fires. N ever pick-up a flam ing pan. Sm other a
flam ing pan w ith a lid or flat pan. Flam ing grease outside the pan can be
extinguished w ith baking soda or a m ultipurpose dry chem ical fire extinguisher.
O P E R A TIN G IN S TR U C TIO N S
1. K n o w w h ich knob controls w hich burner. A lw ays be sure the correct burner is
turned on.
2. D epress knob and turn fully counter-clockw ise
to "Lite" position.
a. V erify sufficient gas supply before attem pting to light the burner. Air in the
g a s line w ill significantly delay burner ignition. The burner m ay lig h t
unexpectedly as the air in th e line clears and is replaced by LP gas. This
unexpected ignition could burn you. Air in the gas lines m ay o cc ur after
the vehicle gas bottle and/or tank is refilled, during and after servicing
other appliances on sam e gas line, etc.
b. D o not attem pt to light m ore than one burner at a tim e.
c. Im m ediately light b u rner by holding a long m atch near the burner ports.
C A U TIO N : H and held ignitors m ay be u se d but be sure they are the
type designed for lighting open flam e burners.
3. If any burner should extinguish after initial lighting or due to accidental blow -out,
turn gas off by turning control knob clockw ise
to "O FF", w ait five (5) m inutes
before attem pting to relight the burner. Failure to follow these instructions could
result in a fire or explosion.
If the burner should go out w hile cooking, or if there is an odor of gas, turn control
knob(s) clockw ise
to "O FF". W ait five (5) m inutes for gas odor to disappear.
If gas odor is still present - D o not relight burners. S ee "W hat To D o If Y ou S m ell
G as" on the front cover of this m anual.
4. To turn burner(s) "O FF", turn the appropriate control knob clockw ise
to "O FF".
W A R N IN G ! B e sure all control knobs are turn ed " O F F" w hen you are not
cooking. Som eone c o u ld be burned or a fire could start if a burner is
accidently left on or unattended even if only m om entarily.
M A IN TE N A N C E
W A R N IN G ! If the user of this appliance fails to m aintain it in the condition in
w hich it w as shipped from the factory or if the appliance is not used solely for
its intended purpose or if appliance is not m aintained in accordance w ith the
instructions in this m anual, then the risk of a fire and/or the production of
carbon m onoxide exists w hich can cause personal injury, property dam age
or loss of life.
1. M ake sure all controls are "O FF" and the drop-in cooktop is cool before cleaning.
2. M ake sure that all cooktop surfaces, burner grates and burners are cool before

a. For such reasons as dow n drafts that could be created by op ening and
closing of cabinet doors or doors w ithin the R V or by positive or negative
air pressures affecting burners d ue to im proper installation. (S ee
paragra p h 6 under Installation.) The burner could extinguish resulting in
gas escaping into the R V . R em em ber, gas to burners is controlled
m anually, you m ust turn gas "O N and ""O FF".
b. A boil over could occur and the spill could ignite.
16. Flam e size
a. N ever extend the flam e beyond the outer edge of the utensil. A higher
flam e sim ply w astes heat and energy.
b. C orrect flam e size is determ ined by utensil size and m aterial, w hat you
are cooking and w hether or not you are cooking w ith liquid.
17. To prevent dam age to the cook top, top burners, or top grate, never operate
a to p b u rn er w ithout a pan in place. The top burners, especially the high in p ut
burner (if equipped), should not be operated on high for an extended period of
tim e.
U se the high flam e s etting to begin, then reduce the flam e to a low er setting to
continue cooking. N ever use c oo kw are which extends beyond one inch of the
grate, or rests over tw o operating top burners. This w ill cause exc es sive heat
build-up w hich results in dam age to the grate, top burner, and cook top.

3. D o not u se oven cleaners, bleach or rust rem overs on the cooktop or burner
grates.
4. D o not obstruct the flow of com bustion and ventilation air.
5. C lean all surfaces as soon as possible after boil overs or spillovers.
6. U se w arm soapy w ater only to clean the burner grates, cooktops, painted
surfaces, porcelain surfaces, stainless stee l surfaces and plastic item s on your
drop-in cooktop. D o not use grit or acid-type cleaners.
7. D o no t use steel w ool or abrasive cleaners. They w ill dam age your d ro p -in
cooktop. U se only non-abrasive plastic scrubbing pads.
8. D o not allow foods containing acids (such as lem on or tom ato juice, or vinegar)
to rem ain on porcelain or painted surfaces. Acids m ay rem ove the glossy finish.
9. D o not w ash w arm porcelain surfaces. A llow these areas to cool befo re
cleaning. Y ou could burn yourself or the porcelain could crack.
10. P itting and discoloration w ill result if spills are allow ed to rem ain for any length
of tim e on stainless steel.
11. D o not allow spillovers to rem ain on the burner caps. The caps could be
perm anently stained if spillovers are not cleaned up prom ptly.
12. If any of the burner ports or the orifice a re clogged, carefully clean w ith a
sm all w ire or needle. Be sure not to enlarge ports. N ever use a w ire brush for
cleaning burner ports or orifice. N ever use any brush w hich m ay "shed" bristles,
w hich m ay becom e lodged in the orifice or burner ports an d cause a fire or
explosion.
TO R E M O V E TH E S TO V E TO P
1. R em ove the tw o (2) thum b screw s from the sides of the stove top. Lift the stove
top clear of the burner box.
2. To reinstall top, reverse the procedure.
TO R E M O V E G R A TE (S )
1. R em ove the top.
2. S queeze opposite sides of the grate together and lift free of the drop-in top.
3. To reinstall grate(s) reverse the procedure.
