WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS

! EVACUATE ALL PERSONS FROM THE VEHICLE.
! DO NOT START THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE OR ELECTRIC GENERATOR.
! DO NOT TOUCH ANY ELECTRICAL SWITCH (INCLUDING LIGHTS) OR USE ANY
PHONE OR RADIO IN THE VEHICLE.
! SHUT OFF THE GAS SUPPLY AT THE GAS CONTAINER (BOTTLE) OR SOURCE.
! IMMEDIATELY CALL YOUR GAS SUPPLIER FROM A NEIGHBOR'S PHONE.
FOLLOW THE GAS SUPPLIER'S INSTRUCTIONS.
! IF YOU CANNOT REACH YOUR GAS SUPPLIER, CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
! DO NOT TURN ON THE GAS SUPPLY UNTIL THE GAS LEAK(S) HAVE BEEN
REPAIRED.
INSTALLATION AND SERVICE MUST BE PERFORMED BY A QUALIFIED INSTALLER,
SERVICE AGENCY OR THE GAS SUPPLIER.

INTRODUCTION
1. Y ou r D rop-in Cooktop has been certified by C S A for the U .S .A . and Canada
for use w ith LP /P ropane gas only.
2. Y our cooktop is one of the follow ing m odels: SD N 2 or SD N 3.
3. M odel num ber letter designation:
S - Suburban
D - D rop-in
N - N ew design
# - N um ber of burners
4. The com plete m odel, serial num ber and stock num ber are located on the C S A
label located under the top. This inform ation w ill be needed when servicing
a p p liance or ordering parts. R ecord the inform ation below and retain for futu re
reference. R eplacem en t p arts can be ordered through your local dealer or
S uburban S ervice C enter. To obtain info rm a tio n on locating a local service

absence of such codes, refer to the latest edition of:

*M inim um acceptable spacing betw een adjacent SD N 2 m odels is 3 inches.
4. B efore placing drop-in cooktop into cabinet, determ ine w hich one of the three
knockout openings in the burner box (left side, right side or rear) w ill be used for
routing of the gas supply tubing to the pressure regulator. After m aking selection,
knockout the 1 inch p lug . Place drop-in cooktop into the prepared opening and
secure to cabinet w ith four (4) w ood screw s. (N ot provided)
5. R oute gas line through opening in burner box and connect the gas line to the
3/8" flare fitting inside the burner box. Place nylon bushing over gas line and insert
bushing into opening in burner box.
C A U TIO N : G as supply tubing w ithin the confines of the appliance
connection shall be rigid or sem i-regid m etallic tubing.
6. B e sure all openings in the cabinetry around the gas line are sealed at tim e of
installation.
C A U TIO N : It is im perative that the cabinet in w hich the cooktop is placed
be separated from o ther appliances so that the com bustion air supply to
the top burners can not be affected in any w ay by any forced-air heating
appliance or its return a ir system or by any other source of positive or
negative air pressure. A negative air pressure created by another forced
air appliance m ay d raw the flam e d ow n around the top burners and into
th e cooktop resulting in dam age to the burners and cooktop, as w e ll a s
possible personal injury and/or d am age to vehicle. A positive draft could
cause the burner flam e to lift-off the burner a nd go out resulting in an
uncontrolled escape of gas. W henever the gas fum es reach an open flam e
or another ignition source, an explosion and/or fire w ill o ccur resulting in
property dam age, personal injury and/or loss of life.
7. B e sure burner kn o b s a re in "off" position. Turn on gas supply. C heck all
connections for leaks.
W A R N IN G : N ever check for leaks w ith an open flam e. A pply a soap and
w ater solution to all joints to see if bubbles are form ed.
N O TE : The appliance m ust be disconnected from the gas supply piping system
during any pressure testing of that system at test pressure in access of 1/2 P S IG .
The applian ce m ust be isolated from the gas supply piping during any pressure
testing of the gas supply piping system at test pressure equal to, or less than, 1/2
P S IG .
8. R em ove the top and the grate(s) from their packing - Install the grate(s) on the
top.
9. P o s ition the top over the burners and secure in place w ith tw o (2) th u m b
screw s and tw o (2) w ashers provided.
10. Y our Suburban D rop-in C ooktop is now ready for operation. Before operating,
read the safety inform ation and operating instructions contained in this m anual.
