Use
This saw is a general-purpose jigsaw for all sawing jobs on
hardwoods, soft woods, coated woods, chipboard, ply-
wood, metal and plastics up to the given cutting depth.
Safety instructions and prevention of accidents
Before operating the machine, please read through
the operating instructions completely, follow the Safety
Instructions in this manual as well as the general Safety
Instructions for Power Tools in the accompanying
booklet.
Caution!
When changing saw blade, always pull mains plug
from socket!
When the machine is in operation, keep hands out
of reach of plunger and saw blade! Risk of injury!
Do not work with materials containing asbestos!
Outside power sockets must be protected with re-
sidual-current-operated circuit-breakers (r.c.c.b.).
Do not drill holes into the housing to label the ma-
chine. The protective insulation will be bridged.
Please use self-adhesive labels.
Always lead cables away towards the back of the
machine.
Double insulation
Our equipment is designed in accordance with European
regulations (EN standards) for the utmost safety of the
user. Machines with double insulation always carry the in-
ternational
symbol. The machines do not require eart-
hing. A two-core cable is sufficient.
The machines are interference-suppressed in accordance
with EN 55014.
Initial operation
Before the first operation check that the mains voltage cor-
responds to that given on the machine nameplate.

Motor
The heart of the jig saw is a powerful universal motor with
welded collector which takes no offense even at the most
extensive use of the tool. The motor has substantial power
at its disposal. Since uniform, good venting is very impor-
tant for the motor, it is crucial that you pay special atten-
tion to the maintenance and service instructions with re-
gard to cleaning away dust and dirt.
2
Inserting and unclamping saw blades
The advantage of this clamping system is that it allows you
to change saw blades without tools.
First swing the cover (4) up. Open the quick-clamping sy-
stem by turning the ball sleeve (8) and insert the saw blade
(9). Press it all the way to the rear until it stops. Releasing
the ball sleeve (8) and pressing the tappet automatically
fixes the blade in place, and the ball sleeve (8) returns to its
original position.
Remove the saw blade (9) from the fixing mechanism by
turning the ball sleeve (8). It can then be removed from the
tappet.
The supporting roller – which prevents deviations of the
saw blade and relieves the mechanical system (plunger) –
serves as a stop and automatically provides a clamping
angle of 90°. Obviously, the above applies only when using
our original saw blades.
Operation of pendulum jig saw
While sawing, make sure that the base plate is resting
firmly on the workpiece. The jig saw can then be easily gui-
ded manually. For clean cuts and optimal output, attention
should be paid to the correct material-oriented pendulum
stroke adjustment and to the likewise material-oriented
feed (e.g. pendulum stroke adjustment 0 and slow feed
when sawing metals).
The built-in blower will keep the cutting area always free of
chips, for perfect visibility.
When sawing metals, apply some oil to cutting line. Sheet
metal should be clamped on an adequately firm base
(chipboard or plywood) to prevent any resiliency of the
material.
3
Cutouts/Pocket cuts
For cutouts, drill a hole as a starting point for the saw.
Plunge cuts into the material (only when working with
wood) are possible, but should be attempted only by skil-
led hands. The jig saw is switched on and placed on the
work at an angle of 55–60° to front edge of base plate and
is then slowly and carefully pushed down. Particular care is
required when starting a job: kickbacks or jerks resulting
from incorrect starting procedure or excessively fast
plunge cuts may lead to the blades being broken. Perform
plunge cuts at max. number of strokes only.
4
Miter cuts
Turn stop lever 90° to release saw bench at the front,
release side with lever and bring into tilted position. This
allows you to adjust the position of the saw bench to the
required inclination. Turn stop lever back to lock tilted
position.
5
Rotatable base plate
The base plate of the jig saw can be rotated by 180° for sa-
wing close to the edge. Unscrew hex. socket screw in the
base plate with an Allen wrench, rotate base plate by 180°
and put back again. This is a new procedure and will pro-
vide considerable advantages.
