INSTALLATION
This section explains how to install the serial interface unit into the printer and
connect your printer to your computer. It also includes information on DIP
switch settings you should make to match the interface to your computer.

Preparing the printer

• Make sure that the printer is unplugged from its AC power source.
• Break away the side cover shown in the illustration below.
You can do this by using a pair of electrician's pliers or similar tool to
clip the seven plastic tabs that hold the cover in place.
If you do not have electrician's pliers available, press down at point (A)
until the top of the cover breaks free. Next, pull the top of the cover
forward with a screwdriver or other instrument at point (B) to break the
remaining tabs on the bottom of the cover.
In either case, work carefully and make sure that loose pieces of plastic
or other items to not fall into the printer.
