Connect to AC
Make sure that the voltage and frequency are correct. Plug the UPS into a 2 pole, 3 wire grounding receptacle
(wall outlet). Make sure the wall outlet branch is protected. Avoid using extension cords if at all possible. If used,
make sure the extension cord is rated for 15 Amps. Use the supplied input cord (IEC female – European/UK) to
connect the UPS (10) to the mains.
Do not plug a laser printer or copy machine into the outlets of this UPS. The power demands of these
particular devices are much higher than typical peripherals.
Setting voltage and Frequency
The voltage (220 / 230 / 240 Vac) & of the UPS must be
set by the DIP Switch on the rear panel of the UPS. Use
the chart on the right to set the UPS voltage according to
your needs.
Connect the Load
Plug your primary equipment (e.g. computer, monitor, critical data storage device, etc.) into the Battery Power
Protected outlets (7). Leave the power switches of the equipment in the "Off " position for the moment.
Connect to Computer
Use the enclosed RS-232 or USB cable. Plug one end into the UPS (2/3) and the other one into the appropriate
port on the computer. The two ports can be used simultaneously.
Connect the Fax / Modem / DSL Lines
To protect a fax / modem / DSL line, connect the RJ11 telephone cable from the wall outlet to the "
RJ45/RJ11 socket of the UPS (1). Connect the telephone cable from the "
to the fax / modem DSL line.
Connect Network Lines
To protect a network, connect the RJ45 network cable from the network system to the "
the UPS (1). Connect the network cable from the "
2.4 Operation and Functional Test
AC Mode
The UPS delivers power to the loads derived from the utility and maintains proper battery charge. It also regulates
the output voltage within a narrow range and serves to isolate the load from surges and electrical noise brought by
the mains.
On-Battery Mode
The UPS operates on battery when the line voltage or frequency has fallen outside the limits. The user is alerted
of this mode of operation by visual and audible indicators. The UPS provides power to the load from the battery
and through its inverter and the output voltage and frequency of the UPS are regulated within a narrow band.
Function
Panel Indicator
Switch On
Press and hold the ON switch (3) on the front panel. Wait until the LCD display is lit then
extinguished. Then release the ON switch.
The battery mode LED (Amber) lights up and the UPS is now under self-test mode. If utility power
is normal, the UPS will switch to normal mode (Green LED) after its self-test is completed. On the
other hand, if utility power is not normal (power failure, ...), the UPS will switch to battery mode and
the buzzer will sound every 2 seconds.
Test
Under normal utility condition, push the "On" Switch (3) for 3 seconds to execute the Battery Self-
test function. If the battery is normal, it will enter Battery Mode for 10 seconds then return back to
Normal Mode. If the battery voltage is lower than set limit, the Battery Low icon (8) will blink for 5
seconds then extinguish to stop self-test procedure. And if battery is weak or dead, Battery Low
icon (8) will stay lit.
Switch Off
Push the "Off" Switch (4) for at least 3 seconds to turn off the UPS. If you press the "Off" Switch
less than 3 seconds, the UPS will not shutdown.
The UPS will automatically shut off the output and beep for 5 seconds then completely shut itself
down.
Cold Start
This UPS can be turned on even when AC is not present.
Auto restart
The UPS will automatically restart providing energy to the output if the utility recovers in 24 hours after automatic
shutdown. The "Battery" will flash every 5 seconds during this period. If utility power doesn't return within 24 hours
auto restart function will not work. Manual startup will be required. If UPS auto-restart is not needed, this function
can be cancelled by turning off the UPS (see above).
2.5 Manual Simulation of Power Outage for the UPS
NOTE: In some occasions, the UPS will shut itself down in case of overload, output
short-circuited or battery cut off point reached in the Backup mode.
