info-menu (see capital 13). The laser switches off if standby-period
is exceeded.
Power is supplied by two alkaline micro AAA batteries. The service
life is approximately 60 hours.
The battery symbol shows the status of the FB - V's batteries.
To change the batteries, open the cover on the back and replace
the batteries. Observe the correct polarity. For information on dis-
posal, see point 20.

11. Detector

Switch on the detector by pressing the On/Off button and selecting
the desired function: Fine or coarse setting (basic setting of TE 6/7
is coarse) and audible signal. The selected function is shown on the
LCD display.
Apart from this, the display shows you during measurement about
the direction in which you must move the detector (by means of
arrows).
Point the sensor window to the TPL and move it through the
rotating laser beam until there is a display on the LCD. Then keep
following the arrow with the detector until only the centre bar is
displayed continuously.
If the hooter is switched on, a continuous tone is issued when the
bar is displayed. When the arrow is displayed, a differently pulsating
tone indicates whether the detector is being held too high or too
low.
With the TE 7, you set the volume of the hooter in three stages.
If no laser beam hits the detector field (sensor window) for
approximately seven minutes, the detector switches off.
Power supply of detector
When the last bar at the battery symbol on the LCD-display
disappears, change the battery (9V, E-Block), otherwise the range
may be reduced.
Open the folding lid of the battery compartment to change the battery.
Dispose of used batteries correctly (see point 20) and ensure the cor-
rect polarity with the new batteries (observe the symbols).
