HYDRAULIC CONNECTION
Before making the hydraulic connections, the supply pipes must be
thoroughly cleaned to prevent the introduction of metal or other par-
ticles.
f copper pipes are being used, the hot water outlet must be connec-
ted using a dielectric joint (brass joints are prohibited) to prevent
galvanic corrosion (iron/copper). An approved safety valve assembly
must be used.
A pressure of 3 to 4 bar is recommended.
Install a vent on the tank's top connection (domestic hot water out-
let).
It is strongly recommended to fit a screen filter to the general cold
water supply to prevent the introduction of foreign matter such as
sand, gravel, mud, etc.
Domestic hot water from the tanks can reach high temperatures. A
solar-type thermostatic mixer must therefore be installed before the
domestic hot water is distributed to the catchment points. The set-
point temperature at the catchment points must conform to appli-
cable regulations.

HYDRAULIC SAFETY

Any installation must include a correctly sized hydraulic safety device
to protect against:
• Overpressure in the distribution network.
• Overpressure due to a temperature rise (expansion during
heating).
• Overpressure due to a thermostat or power relay malfunction.
Any flow resulting from overpressure must not be restricted. This
means the drainage pipe must be at a sufficient, continuous gradient
and be of a suitable diameter for the network. Irrespective of the type
of installation, it must have a cold water shut-off valve upstream of
the safety unit.
The size of the hydraulic safety device depends on:
• the capacity of the appliance,
• the power of the installed appliance.
Safety units for the entire range (optional) to be installed on each
appliance.
N.B.
A hydraulic sealing test must be carried out after each operation on
the hydraulic installation.
