7. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR INITIAL OPERATION

Soldering is the process of jining two metal workpieces using molten solder. Almost any two kinds
of metals can be soldered together. The two types of soldering are soft soldering (up to 400 °C) and
hard soldering or brazing (more than 450 °C). This soldering gun is designed for soft soldering.
Solders and soldering flux
The most common solder types are regular solder and flux-core solder.
Soldering flux is used to prevent oxidizing of the workpiece and should be carefully removed from
the workpiece after the solder has cooled down. Resin based soldering flux (such as kolophonium)
does not need to be removed.

8. OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

Remove any oil and dust from the workpiece using solvents. Regular household cleaning agents are
not recommended since they may contain silicone. Remove the oxidized top layer of the workpiece
using abrasive tools. After the workpiece is clean, avoid touching the soldering spots. The tip of the
soldering gun is made of copper and therefore prone to oxidizing. Scrape the soldering tip clean
using salmiakstone.
Add some flux to the tip and cover it in a small amount of solder. The solder should distribute
evenly on the tip. If it forms clots, the tip is not hot enough. If it forms small pearls, the tip has not
been cleaned properly.
Replace the soldering tips (3) once they are worn down.
To replace the tip, unscrew the fixing nut (2), replace the tip and fasten the nut again. Always
unplug the soldering gun and let it cool down before you do any maintainance work on the product!
