Troubleshooting
My computer is not recognising the new NIC.
Possible Solution 1:
Make sure that the NIC is seated in the PCI slot securely. Check for hardware problems, such as
physical damage to the card's edge connector. Try the card in another PCI slot. Try another U.S.
Robotics 10/100/1000 Mbps 64-bit PCI NIC that is known to operate correctly.
Possible Solution 2:
Another PCI device in your computer may be causing a conflict. Uninstall and remove the other
adapter, then test the new NIC separately.
Possible Solution 3:
Check your computer's documentation to verify that the BIOS supports the following:
• The PCI Local Bus Specification v2.2.
• An enabled bus-master slot rather than a slave PCI slot.
Note: For instructions on changing your BIOS settings, refer to your computer's documentation
or contact your computer dealer or manufacturer.
Possible Solution 4:
Check for a defective computer or PCI bus by trying the adapter in another computer that is
known to operate correctly.

1. Refer to the Installation CD-ROM for additional installation and troubleshooting informa-
tion. Open the folder that corresponds to your operating system. In that folder is a text
file that contains the installation and troubleshooting information for your driver.
