FINAL ASSEMBLY

Connect the four wires (fitted with fastons)
coming from the battery charger circuit to the
electronic programmer circuit board "M" (see
fig. 6-7).
Carefully insert the wires inside the space
between the two batteries "N", keeping the
wires connected to the transformer towards
the top.
Re-insert the circuit "Q" into the container and
fasten down using the supplied screws. Make
sure that the wires coming from the battery
charger arrive at the fastons on the electronic
programmer passing below the circuit board.
Re-insert the wire cover "P".
Re-insert the battery holder and circuit board
unit and fasten down using the supplied
screws.
Replace the cover.

FUNCTION MODES

When the power is on, the battery charger relays are normally activated and the two transformer sec-
ondaries are directly routed to the programmer fastons. When the power is off, the relays remain at rest,
and the tension from the batteries is applied to both the logic board and to the motor control circuits
of the programmer.
Signal LED for the battery charger circuit (figs 6-7)
L1: lit when the battery is correctly connected (with jumper "J1" inserted).
L2: lit when the current supplied by the battery charger is greater than the current required to maintain
the battery (about 60 mA for a 4 Ah battery): The batteries are charging.
Protection against battery polarity inversion
A battery protection fuse "F4" (avoiding reversed polarity damage) is located on the battery charger
card; if the battery charger is wired incorrectly the fuse "F4" will trip together with the motor circuit
protection fuse "F3" on the motor control card.
Using different types of battery
Using a battery which is different to the suggested type is at the complete responsibility of the installer,
particularly with regard to the storage position of the battery which must be installed in a position that
conforms to the local standards and regulations in force. It is possible to adapt the battery charger to
work with other types of battery by adjusting the output charge voltage on the trimmer "P1" (fig.6-7):
The output voltage, which can be measured between binding posts 9 and 10, is factory set to:
- 27 Vdc for use with two 12 Vdc (4Ah) batteries in series.
System autonomy
• The autonomy of the system when it is running on battery power is dependent on the ambient condi-
tions and on the load connected to the 24V output of the electronic programmer (power is always
routed there during blackouts). If the blackout continues for more than 10 hours remember to remove
the fuse "F2" (logic card power supply protection) from the motor command card so as to disconnect
the battery from the circuit.
If the fuse is not removed the battery could flatten itself excessively (successive recharging may then
only partly succeed).
Attention! Check that the connection between binding posts 7 and 8 and the relative fastons
on the programmer (fig. 6-7) is correct: inverting the connection will result in the programmer
not receiving power.
