INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

TEMPERATURE PACK
ANATOMICAL BREAST COMPRESS
Package contains
Ardo Temperature Pack, soft cover, instructions for use

Intended use

Breast compress for cold and warm application to breasts during breastfeeding. As a warm compress it helps to trigger the
let-down reflex and as a cold compress it can relieve breast inflammation, the build-up of milk or tension in the breast. Its
anatomical shape means it can be placed under the armpit and used as a Temperature Pack for the lateral breast glands.
The round opening prevents contact with sensitive nipples.
Hold the Temperature Pack comfortably in place on the breast, preferably while lying down. Use the fastener of the cover to
adapt it to your breast size. To warm/cool the lateral breast glands, hold the flap lightly under your arm.
Warm compress application: put on approximately 5 minutes before breastfeeding as described. The warmth promotes
a feeling of relaxation and helps to trigger the let-down reflex.
Heating up in warm water: boil the water without the Temperature Pack. Place the Temperature Pack without cover into
water (not more than 80 °C) and for no more than 10 minutes. Caution! The Temperature Pack can burst if overheated. The
colour of the Temperature Pack foil may change when heated. Dry the Temperature Pack with a towel.
Heating up in microwave: place the Temperature Pack without cover flat on a plate and spread the gel out evenly. Caution!
The Temperature Pack can burst if overheated. Cover the Temperature Pack with a microwave lid to protect the microwave
from possible contamination. Heat for no more than 30 seconds at 800 watt. The colour of the Temperature Pack foil may
change when heated. Take the Temperature Pack out of the microwave and carefully test the temperature. If necessary,
heat the Temperature Pack further, in small steps, until the desired temperature is reached (for a total of no more than a
maximum of 1.5 minutes at 800 watt).
Cold compress application: put on for approximately 15–20 minutes after breastfeeding as described. The coolness
provides soothing relief for breast inflammation, engorgement or tension in the breast.
Cooling in a freezer compartment: spread the gel out evenly. Place the unfolded Temperature Pack without cover flat in the
freezer compartment (not colder than –18 °C) for no more than 1 hour. Do not fold when frozen!

Cleaning instructions

Wash your hands thoroughly before each use. Before first use and after each use, wash the Temperature Pack in soapy
water and then rinse it thoroughly. In the hospital: wipe with disinfectant. Do not sterilize! Soft cover: non-washable and
for use by one person only.
Hints and contraindication
Never use the Temperature Pack without the soft cover to avoid burning the skin. The soft cover is non-washable and only
suitable for use by one person. Caution! Do not use together with skin care oil to ovoid potential damage to the foil! Do
not use a faulty Temperature Pack! Do not store in a freezer compartment or heating unit! Keep small parts and plastic
bags out of the reach of children! The Temperature Pack and its contents are non-toxic. Stop using the Temperature Pack
and seek specialist advice if it is unpleasant to use or causes pain.
