umfangreichen Wiederbewaffnungsprogramms
entwickelt, war der GMC mit über 800.000 Stückder bei weitem am häufigsten
gebaute LKW. Die beiden Hauptmodelle waren der CCKW-352, „der Kurze" und
der CCKW-353, „der Lange". Der GMC wurde General Motors produziert. Es
handelte sichdabei urneine Weiterentwicklungeineszivilen LKW's(Allradantrieb
6x6, anstelle von 6x4, sowie ein robuster Aufbau).
Neben dem klassischenTransport-LKW worde eine große Anzahl von speziellen
Versionen entwickelt: Tanklastwagen, Abschleppwagen, Werkstattwagen,
Krankentransporter, LKW-Nachrichtentechnik, etc. Die legendöre Robustheit
machten aus ihrn ein universe" einsetzbares Fahreug. Das erklärt, daß sich
der Erfolg des GMC auch lange Zeit nach dem 2. Weltkrieg fortsetzte, sowohl
in den Zivil-, als auch in den Militärbereichen.
