Das einsitzige FlugzeugF•t17 Nighthawk wurdevon Lockheed Martin für die USAAir Forceentwickelt. Das
Projektentstand in den 80er Jahren mit ersten Prototypenund wurde mehrere Jahre langgeheim gehalten.
Die F.117 wurde mit einer fortschnttlichen Stealth-Technologiehergesteltt. mit der Sie für Radargeräte
unsichtbar wurde. Das Projekt beschränkte nicht nur das -Radar-Tracking•.sondern minimierte auch
die thermische Signatur und die elektronischen Emissionen, Tatsächlich war die F-117 Nighthawk
ein Flugzeug für den Boden- und den taktiscnen Luftangriff. Urn die Stealth-Ejgenscnaften maximal zu
optmieren, wurden die Angriffswaffen in twei internen Laderåumen unter dem Rumpf untergebracht. Die
