Original manual – Self-loading dolly „Sprinter 90 / 900"
self-loading dolly „Sprinter 90 & Sprinter 900". The wheel clamps with blocks make sure that
the dolly is safely attached to the wheel.
The tie-down strap is only to be applied loosely on the vehicle wheels as the dolly
must remain flexible.
If the tie-down strap is applied too tight it might lead to malfunctions as this will affect
the function of the simple axle compensation of the dolly.
Commissioning
Installation of the dollies:
The safeguard of the chain blocker (15) must always be unlocked for the installation and removal on the vehicle
wheel.
Open the dolly by pressing the internal part of the dolly (2) together with the external part of the dolly (1) and
subsequently opening the chain blocker (13). Remain pushing down the chain blocker (13) with your foot. By
releasing the inside and outside part, the dolly automatically unfolds due to the compression spring.
Position the dolly in front of the vehicle wheel and open it by means of the chain on the dolly wide enough so that
you can place the dolly underneath the wheel. The chain must be engaged in the corresponding position of the
square pipe (B).
Put the dolly underneath the wheel to be lifted and align the trail to assure directional stability. Make sure that at
least one wheel clamp (C) grips into the tyre thread.
The upper straps 3 + 4 are not to be in an upright position! Otherwise, due to the dolly's
construction, the straps will not develop any leverage, which might result in damages.
Insert the pry lever (A) into the chain winch (10) up to the stop. Tighten the chain winch (10) by turning the pry
lever with a left-hand turn until both straps (3 + 4) are lifting the vehicle wheel up to about 30 - 40 mm. The upper
straps (3 + 4) must fit closely on the wheel and at least one wheel clamp (C) on each side must grip into the tyre
thread.
Turn the safeguard of the chain blocker (15) until the pin holds on to the spring holder (E).
Thereby the chain blocker is secured.
As soon as two self-loading dollies have been properly installed on one vehicle axle, the towed vehicle is ready for
transport.
In case of an underinflated or flat tyre the vehicle must be lifted with a jack.
The maximum speed limit in that case is 10 km/h.
In case of an underinflated or flat tyre it is recommended to change the tyre.
Removal of the dolly:
When lowering the dolly, the safeguard of the chain blocker (15) must be turned so that it does not
hold on to the spring holder (E) anymore. Slightly turn the chain winch (10) to the left by using the pry
lever (A) until the chain blocker (13) is released. Press the chain blocker (13) with your foot and turn the pry lever
to the right until the wheel is on the ground.
Remove the dollies and close them again by means of the two pins on the chain winch (10).
