Explanting or Replacing the Adapter
To disconnect and remove the Vercise Adapter M8 from the IPG or Lead Extension, follow these
steps:
1. Turn off the IPG.
2. Palpate the implanted area to locate the IPG.
3. Surgically open the pocket where the IPG is located. The incision should be large enough to
remove the IPG from the pocket. Be careful not to damage the implanted components to allow
for proper analysis following explant.
4. Remove the IPG from the IPG pocket.
5. Use the Hex Wrench to retract the IPG Setscrew connecting the Vercise Adapter M8 to the IPG
header without fully removing the Setscrew.
6. Gently pull the Vercise Adapter M8 out of the IPG header.
7. Use the Hex Wrench to retract the Setscrew on the Vercise Adapter M8 without fully removing
the Setscrew.
8. Gently pull the Lead Extension out of the Vercise Adapter M8.
9. To replace the Vercise Adapter M8, see the "Connecting the Adapter to the IPG and Lead
Extensions" section of this manual and repeat all steps.
10. Ship the explanted Vercise Adapter M8 to Boston Scientific.
