Safety Notices / Warnings
The Glue Gun contains flammable gas under pressure,
use with care.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Refill away from flame with Braun, Colibri, Ronson,
Rowenta or other high quality butane cigarette lighter
fuel. Fig B.
It is essential to keep your Glue Gun away from face
and body while igniting.
Hot gases are emitted from all exhaust slots. Do not
leave the Glue Gun unattended.
Do not expose to heat above +50°C (120°F) and avoid
prolonged exposure to the sun.
Do not try to open the gas tank, puncture or incinerate.
Do not refill, ignite or use indoors near flame or
combustible materials.
Do not touch main exhaust port or nozzle when hot.
If molten adhesive is accidentally deposited on skin
immerse immediately in cold water. Do not attempt to
remove large amounts of adhesive from your person
without seeking proper medical advice first.
Additional Safety Features
The gas flow to the combustion chamber is fitted with
a safety cutout device. If temperatures exceed
260°C/500°F this device will operate and cut off the
flow of gas to the combustion chamber.
If the safety cut-out device operates the unit must be
returned to your distributor for inspection and repair.
The operation of the cut-out device should not be
confused with the slow On/Off Thermostat pulse shown
by the ignition view glow.
This is a professional tool, please use with care.
Instructions for use
Gas Type
The tool operates on butane gas such as used with
ordinary cigarette lighters. Use only filtered gas such
as the Braun, Colibri, Ronson, Rowenta brands.
Regular filling (when off) is recommended.
The unit is shipped without gas: first fill with gas.
May take 10 seconds to fill from empty.
Gas Filling (Fig.B) Gas switch must be in the OFF
position before filling
Adaptors are not normally required when refilling.
To fill, hold butane refill above tool, as fuel fill is
dependent on gravity and pressure. Keep can and tool
in truly vertical position during refill. Do not refill at an
angle. Stop filling when gas spills from valve. The
special venting valve allows quick and easy charging.
IGNITION SEQUENCE
The Gas-Tec 300 is ignited by a piezo-electric system.
Ignite by slowly pushing the switch forward. The switch
will return to the working position. The sound of the gas
flow changes to a mild 'roar' confirming ignition.
Please note, during its normal working cycle the sound
is cut in and out by the efficient thermostatic control.
Depress the switch again within 5 seconds if ignition
fails first time.
Ignition may also be confirmed by the glow visible after
a few moments in the 'Ignition View' window towards
the nozzle of the unit. Glow will cease when thermostat
closes. The time between glow On/glow Off will vary
with the amount of adhesive used.
Allow at least 4 minutes for the unit to reach
operational temperature of 195°C / 385°F.
To switch off unit, pull out switch to back position.
GENERAL
Squeeze trigger to extrude adhesive. Release to
terminate adhesive flow.
NOTE:
With a new gun, it will be necessary to operate the
trigger several times before adhesive is extruded.
This evacuates air from the adhesive reservoir.
RELOADING: As the trigger is operated, the adhesive
stick will be pulled into the gun. When the stick
disappears into the rear of the gun a new stick should
be inserted. This may be done at any time, even while
adhesive is being extruded.
When not in use place in an upright position, using the
fold-away stand.
Do not leave running unattended resting on either side.
Molten glue may flow back from the melt chamber, and
clog feed system.
ADHESIVE "BACK UP"
This is when molten adhesive is forced between the
glue stick and inlet tube wall. It normally occurs if the
nozzle is blocked or if the gun has been operated
before it has reached operating temperature.
"BACK UP" is normally self clearing due to the G150
PTFE non-stick inlet tube. In extreme cases molten
adhesive may have got past the inlet tube and
solidified. This will be visible in the open breach area
of the gun and should be removed carefully avoiding
damage to the inlet tube. This will be easier to do when
the gun is cold.
Do not remove unused glue sticks from gun. This may
cause adhesive to flow back into transport mechanism.
Unused glue sticks should be left in place or cut off at
rear of gun.
WARNING: DO NOT PULL OUT ADHESIVE
STICK FROM REAR OF GUN.
