5 Safety instructions
This installation guide is intended for trained personnel and therefore does not include basic working steps.
Important / Warnings
The seal on the flow sensor (Fig. A) must not be damaged. A damaged seal will result in immediate invalidation
of the factory warranty and calibration. The pulse cable can be extended but the whole length must be shorter
than 10m.
Hot water may still be present in the piping and can result in scalding. When removing meters, bolts
or sensors, ensure that the water temperature cannot cause injury.
The connecting threads may have burred or sharp edges. Use protective gloves
The instrument contains a lithium battery
Do not try to open the battery.

Do not bring the battery in contact with water.
•
• Do not short-circuit the battery.
• Do not subject the battery to temperatures above 80 °C.
• Empty batteries and used instruments are special refuse and must be disposed of at suitable col-
lecting points.

The regulations on the use of volume flow sensors must be observed.

The regulations on electrical installations must be observed.
•
All instructions listed in the data sheet of the flow sensor must be observed.

Calibration marks on the flow sensor must not be damaged or removed. Their removal invalidates the war-

ranty and calibration of the flow sensor. Seals may only be removed by authorized persons for service pur-
poses and must then be renewed.
Instruments are to be protected from mechanical damage and heat (they may only be stored in their pack-
•
ing).
Ensure that no foreign objects get into the pipe.
•
Instruments are only to be cleaned using a moist cloth lightly dampened with water. Do not use cleaning
•
liquids.
6 Installation of flow sensor
The flow sensor is installed either in the high temperature pipe or low temperature pipe (has to be configured in
the calculator). The water temperature has to be within the range indicated on the meter label. The flow sensor
has to be installed so that the direction of flow corresponds to the direction of the arrow on the flow sensor hous-
ing (Fig. B) .

possible sources of electromagnetic interference (switches, electric motors, fluorescent lamps, etc.).
It is recommended that stop valves are fitted before and after the flow sensor to simplify dismantling. The flow
sensor should be installed in a convenient position for service and operating personnel.
Ensure that the flow sensor is always filled with liquid after installation. Straight pipe sections before and after
the flow sensor improve the accuracy.
The flow sensor can be installed in both horizontal and vertical pipe sections, but always so, that air bubbles
cannot collect in the flow sensor. Tilting the unit by 45º will reduce deposits.
