1.3.1) MONO AND STEREO MODE

Use the slide switcher to switch between the two modes.
NOTE
Never switch while you are playing. In most cases changing the mode of
the cabinet will also require you to change connections on the amp or ca-
binet. Switch your amp to standby or turn it off before you operate this
switch.
Mono Mode: When in Mono mode you can use one of either sockets as an in-
put. In Mono Mode never use both sockets simultaneously.
As you may notice, each socket is labeled with a different impedance (in
most cases 4 Ohms and 16 Ohms).
Stereo Mode: When the cabinet is switched to Stereo mode each of the two
sockets is responsible for the corresponding side. If the cabinet is
loaded with 16 Ohms speakers then each side will have an overall imped-
ance of 8 Ohms.
To understand the background/nature of this, please see the below ex-
ample:
Background example: The 412 cabinet is loaded with four 16 Ohms speakers.
The vertical pairs of speakers (left and right sides of the cabinet) are
each wired in parallel. That means we have a resulting/overall impedance
of 8 Ohms per side. These two sides can again be wired together, on one
socket the wiring is parallel and on the other serial – that is why you
can choose between 4 Ohms or 16 Ohms when the cabinet is in mono mode.
