d) Notes on Rechargeable Batteries
• When handling lead batteries, wear suitable protective clothes and protective goggles for safety
reasons.
• Lead batteries contain aggressive and corrosive acids. Avoid skin or eye contact with battery fluids!
Never dismantle lead batteries! Wash affected skin areas thoroughly with water and soap. If acid has
gotten into your eye, rinse it under flowing, clear, luke-warm water at once for at least 10 minutes! Then
see a doctor immediately!
• If your clothes have come into contact with acid, wash your them with a lot of water and soap immedia-
tely!
• Never wear any rings, necklaces, watches, etc. when handling rechargeable batteries or chargers.
Short-circuit of the battery contacts poses a danger of burns and explosion!
• Rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited or thrown into fire. There is danger of fire and
explosion!
• Dispose of defective lead batteries environmentally compatibly. Cover the battery poles (e.g. with
suitable insulating tape) to prevent short circuit. Also observe the section „Disposal" of these operating
instructions.
• If you are not sure about the correct connection or operation, or if there are any questions that are
