3 Use and adjustment
- When moving the microscope, pick it up only by the inclined arm of the body
and place your other hand under the base.
- Use the switch to turn the microscope on, turn the dimmer located on the
base to obtain the desired light intensity.
- Place the specimen on the stage.
- The 360 º rotatable head and the tube inclined at a 45 º angle are
ergonomically designed for prolonged use.
- The parafocal objectives make it easy to focus when changing the
magnification; the 40 x and 100 x (immersion) objectives are retractably
mounted to avoid damaging the specimen in case of accidental contact with
the specimen.
- The microscope is focused by vertically displacing the stage by a knurled
coarse adjustment knob for rapid movements and a coaxial micrometric
screw for fine adjustments.
- The height to which the stage can be raised can be limited by the blocking
lever located at the base of the coarse adjustment and on the left of the
body. In order to adjust this stop:
- switch to the 100 x objective, then slowly raise the stage while observing it
from the side until the plate almost touches (about 0.2 mm) the objective,
- lower the lever.
- Under the stage there is a light condenser that is adjustable by the knurled
knob on the left, as well as a diaphragm with an adjustable iris and a filter
holder for inserting filters (blue or green) to observe highly transparent
specimens.
- Adjust the illumination by finding the best position for the condenser, then
close the diaphragm to increase the contrast and the field depth. Do not
close the diaphragm too much, as doing so will change the resolution.
4 Maintenance
- Protection from dust: After use, place the cover over the apparatus. If there
are dust deposits on the lenses, blow them away with the help of a syringe
or dust remover (item no. 574 198) or use a martin hair brush; the lenses
are fragile and can be scratched by dust.
- Fingerprints: Do not touch the lenses. If, however, they do have fingerprints
on them, remove the fingerprints with a soft cloth or lens paper (item no. 803
092).
- Humidity: Humidity, especially in combination with temperature, is
particularly harmful to the assembled optics. It is a good idea to store the
microscopes in a dry place, and under especially exposed climate
conditions, the microscopes should be stored in their polystyrene boxes with
a dessication bag.
- Disassembly: A microscope is a finely-tooled, precision instrument. If it is
necessary to take it apart (for maintenance),
returned to JEULIN or a qualified repair shop. The base plate that seals the
