The worktop is made of solid wood, which
has a moisture content of 8-10%. This is
the correct moisture content for worktops
that will be used in settings with normal
temperature and humidity levels. Because
wood is a living material that expands and
contracts according to the surrounding
humidity levels, wood worktops may, in
rare cases, bow somewhat. This can usually
be avoided by following the instructions for
installation and care below.
When storing the worktop, stand it on the
back edge of its long-side.Do not open the
plastic package until you are ready to insta-
ll the worktop. Before installation, store the
worktop in a room with normal tempera-
ture and humidity levels. Do not place the
worktop against a warm radiator, or lay it
on a cold floor.
The worktop is pre-treated at the factory
with one coat of wood treatment oil. After
installation, sand the worktop following the
direction of the grain. Prepare the work-
top first by polishing the wood surfaces
with fine sandpaper or Scotch-Brite. Wipe
away all sawdust with a dry cloth. Use a
brush or cloth to apply BEHANDLA wood
treatment oil in a thin, even coat. Allow the
oil to absorb into the wood for 15 minutes.
Use a soft cloth to wipe away any surplus
oil. Allow the surface to dry. Repeat the
treatment three times, allowing a day or
so between treatments for the oil to dry.
Polish the surface lightly after the first tre-
atment, using a fine sandpaper. When the
surface has dried after
third reading, wipe the worktop with a hea-
vier paper or cardboard for
to obtain a smooth surface. To ensure the
worktop retains its hardwearing surface for
many years, treat it with BEHANDLA wood
treatment oil once a year or as needed.
Areas where the worktop may dry out,
such as around the sink and hob, should be
treated often.
Scratches and small blemishes can be trea-
ted with fine sandpaper on a sanding block.
Always sand in the direction of the grain.
For daily cleaning, use ordinary washing-up
detergent, soap or water. Never use chemi-
cals to clean the worktop.
Worktops that are installed above a
dishwasher, washing machine or oven shou-
ld be protected on the underside with FIXA
diffusion barrier.
IMPORTANT!
Wash used brushes and soak used cloths in
water and place them in a sealed bag to eli-
minate all risk of spontaneous combustion.
