3. Example of experiment
In this part, we will show you an example of experiment which consist to reveal uniformly
accelerated rectilinear motion of a car.
3.1 Rectilinear acceleration
Car with mass M
In order to study uniformly accelerated motion, we have to stick the accelerometer on the
car with adhesive pastille. Then put the car on the test bench, the car is attached by a
rope over a pulley to a mass of m which hangs vertically. The plank will be used for
stopping the car. Finally, we have to configure the software and launch the acquisition.
3.2 Configuration and acquisition

Drag and drop Y-acceleration
Here, the horizontal acceleration is oriented along the Y-axis (figure 8).
Define time configuration by clicking on
5 seconds and 101 points (figure 9).
Click on
, then "Affichage", multiple calibration exist: ±2g, ±8g, ±16g, select
± 2g for a better visualization (figure 10).
