L'E3-B Awacs (Système aéroporté d'alerte et de surveillance) est un appareil
qui permet de remédier aux difficultés de repérage des avions ennemis volant
à basse altitude et donc masqués par le relief naturel. Sa cellule est celle d'un
707-320B civil. Il est équipé d'un radôme rotatif contenant les antennes du
radar et d'un système d'identification ami-ennemi. L'E-3 Awacs est un centre
de commandement, de contrôle et de communications doté d'une forte
capacité de survie et capable de résister à un brouillage intense. Il est en
service dans l'US Air Force depuis 1977.

The E-3 B Awacs (Airborne Warning and Control System) is an aircraft
designed to detect low-flying enemy planes, which are difficult to distinguish
from natural features on the ground. Its airframe is a civilian 707-320B which
has been equipped with a rotating radome containing radar antennas and a
friend enemy identification system. The E-3 Awacs is a command, control
and communications center endowed with high survival capacity and able to
overcome intense jamming. It has been in service with the US Air Force since
1977.

Die E-3 B Awacs (Airborne Warning and Control System) war ein Flugzeug,
das tief fliegende feindliche Flugzeuge aufspüren sollte, die schwer von
natürlichen Merkmalen am Boden zu unterscheiden sind. Das Flugzeug war
eine zivile 707-320B, die mit einem rotierenden Radom und Radarantennen
ausgestattet war, sowie ein Freund-Feind-Erkennungssystem enthielt. Die
E-3 Awacs war ein Kommando-, Kontroll- und Kommunikationszentrum, dass
über eine hohe Überlebensfähigkeit verfügte und in der Lage war, starke
Störsignale zu überwinden. Sie war seit 1977 bei der US Air Force im Einsatz.

permite solucionar dificultades de localización de los aviones enemigos que
vuelan a baja altura, y por lo tanto ocultos por el relieve natural. Su estructura
es la de un 707-320B civil y se halla equipado de un « radome » giratorio
que contiene las antenas del radar y de un sistema de identificación amigo-
enemigo. EI E-3 Awacs es un centro de mando, de control y de comunicación
dotada de una fuerte capacidad de supervivencia y capaz de resistir a una
intensa interferencia. Está en servicio en Ia US Air Force desde 1977.

het probleem oplost om laagvliegende, vijandige vliegtuigen, die door het
natuurlijke reliëf gemaskeerd worden, op te sporen. Het apparaat heeft de
bouw van een burger 707-320B en is uitgerust met een (draaibare radarkoepel
met radarantennes en een) vriendvijand herkenningssysteem. De E-3 Awacs
is een commando, controle- en communicatiecentrum met een groot
overlevingsvermogen en in staat om intense storingen te weerstaan. Het is
sinds 1977 in bedrijf bij de US Air Force.
