SAFETY INFORMATION
When using an electrical appliance, always follow basic precautions, including the following:
WARNING
READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
To reduce the risk of electrical shock, burns, fire or injury to persons:
• This pump is supplied with a grounding conductor and a grounding type attachment plug. To reduce
risk of electric shock, connect only to properly grounded outlet.
• Do not remove the grounding pin from the plug.
• To reduce the risk of electrical shock, use only on portable self-contained fountains no larger than
5 feet in any dimension.
• Inspect cord for damage before installation and/or maintenance. Replace entire pump if damaged.
• Ensure that the electrical cord loops below the electrical outlet to form a "Drip Loop". (Fig. 1)
This will prevent water from running down the cord into the electrical outlet.
• For a cord-connected or direct plug-in power unit, do not use an extension cord.
• Reference the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, specifically for the installation of wiring and
clearances from power and lighting conductors.
• Qualified person(s) should do installation work and electrical wiring in accordance with all applicable
codes and standards, including fire-rated construction.
• For a cord-connected or direct plug-in power unit, do not install or use within 10 feet of a pool.
• For a direct plug-in or cord-connected power unit:
• WARNING: Risk of Electrical Shock.
When used outdoors, install only to a covered Class A GFCI protected receptacle that is
weatherproof with the power unit connected to the receptacle. If one is not proveded, contact a
qualified electrician for proper installation. Ensure that the power unit and cord do not interfere with
completely closing the receptable cover.
• WARNING: Risk of Fire.
Installation involves special wiring methods to run wiring through a building structure. Consult a
qualified electrician.
• WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock.
Mount the unit at a height greater than 1 foot from the ground surface.
