Getting Started

Before connecting your ScreenPlay Director TV Tuner, decide how you want to get your media content. In addition
to receiving over-the-air television programs, ScreenPlay Director enables you to play media files from your home
network, from a connected USB device, or from the ScreenPlay Director's hard disk.
• If you plan to get media content from your home network or a connected USB device, proceed to the
instructions on connecting and setting up the ScreenPlay Director.
• If you plan to load a lot of media content to the ScreenPlay Director's hard disk, it will be fastest to connect
first to your computer to transfer files and organize your multimedia library. See the user's manual for
detailed instructions.
Connecting and Setting Up ScreenPlay Director
It will be easiest to set up your ScreenPlay Director if it's connected to both your TV and your network before you
power it up the first time. It doesn't matter if you connect to your network first or your TV first.
NOTE: In order to receive over-the-air broadcast television signals, the ScreenPlay Director must be connected to
a TV antenna via the coaxial connector.
Connecting the ScreenPlay Director to Your TV
• For best HD performance, use an HDMI cable to connect to an HDTV.
• You can also connect the ScreenPlay Director using the composite AV cable (yellow, red, and white
connectors) to connect video and audio by matching the jack colors on the TV.
• See the user's manual for other connection options (component video and optical audio).
Connecting the ScreenPlay Director to Your Network
• Wired Network Connection: Use a standard ethernet cable to connect the ScreenPlay Director to a network
router, hub, or switch. (Ethernet cable not included.)
• Wireless Network: Connect an Iomega 802.11n WiFi adapter to the host USB port on the back of the
ScreenPlay Director. (WiFi adapter not included.)
NOTE: The ScreenPlay Director cannot be connected to Ethernet and WiFi at the same time. An Ethernet
connection will provide the best results when playing videos from your network.

channels, and parental control options. If you choose to skip any configuration options during first time

detailed instructions.
Viewing and Recording TV
You must scan for available TV channels before you can view or record over-the-air television programs. This will
take some time. You can scan for TV channels as part of first time setup or complete it later from the Settings
