Using an external power source
The headset adapter can be used with an external power adapter (not included in the delivery,
must be ordered separately) instead of a battery/rechargeable battery.
You need a power adapter with a stabilised output voltage of +5V/DC that can supply a current
of at least 100 mA. The inner contact of the round plug should be Plus/"+", the outer contact
Minus/"-".
The battery/rechargeable battery is deactivated during operation.
Getting Started
• Connect the USB adapter to a free USB port on your computer. The LED (3) on the USB adap-
ter starts flashing.
• The operating system recognises the new hardware and installs the necessary drivers (mini-
mum Windows XP SP2 or better required e.g. Windows 2000, Windows Vista, Windows 7; the
driver is already part of the operating system; this is why a data carrier with the driver is not pro-
vided).
• Insert the battery or rechargeable battery into the headset adapter or connect an external
power source (see the respective sections above in these instructions).
• Switch the headset adapter on by pressing the power button (10) for about 3 seconds, until the
LED (1) on the headset adapter starts flashing.
• Connect your headphones, headset or loudspeaker set to the headphones connection (7) on
the headset adapter.
• Start playing the desired audio or video file and adjust the volume on the PC or with the volu-
me control (9).
The volume control (9) is designed as rocker switch; move it to the left to increase the volume
or to the right to decrease the volume.
• If there is no audio transmission, the LEDs (1) and (3) on the USB adapter and headset adap-
ter flash slowly.
The LEDs are lit steadily when there is audio transmission.
Pairing
In order to be able to transmit audio data between the USB adapter and the headset adapter,
both devices must be connected to each other.
This process is called "Pairing". The headset adapter is connected to the USB adapter so the
audio data can be transmitted.
This paring process usually needs to be performed only once when using the device for the first
time or after replacing the battery.
For this purpose, proceed as follows:
• Connect the USB adapter to a free USB port on your computer, if this has not already been
done. The LED (3) on the USB adapter starts flashing.
• Insert a battery into the headset adapter or connect it to an external power source.
• Switch the headset adapter on (press the power button (10) for about 3 seconds). The LED (1)
on the headset adapter starts flashing.
• Connect headphones, a headset or a loudspeaker to the headphones connection (7) on the
headset adapter.
• Press the pairing button (2) on the USB adapter for about 3 seconds. The LED now flashes
rapidly.
• Press the paring button (9) on the headset adapter until you hear a short signal from the head-
phones connection (press the button for about 3 to 5 seconds).
The LED (3) on the USB adapter now flashes slowly.
• Start playing an audio file on the computer. Both LEDs must be lit steadily and the computer's
playback signal is transmitted to the headphones connection on the headset adapter.
It is necessary to replace the battery/rechargeable battery when the headset adap-
ter switches off automatically after a few seconds or when it cannot be switched on.
We recommend the removal of the inserted battery/rechargeable battery when using
an external power source. If the battery (or rechargeable battery) is not to be used
for a while, there is a risk of it leaking and consequently damage to the device.
If the volume is too low in the computer's player software (or if the volume is muted),
a higher volume cannot be achieved using the volume control (9) on the headset
adapter!
In this case, increase the volume in the computer's player software or turn off the
mute!
When using the product for the first time, paring might be necessary. This "connects"
both devices (USB adapter and headset adapter) with each other so audio trans-
mission is possible. Please note the following section on "Pairing".
If there is no audio transmission for about 5 minutes, the headset adapter switches
off automatically to save energy.
