Turning 180°
1. Cut the substrate, taking great care not to cut or damage the cable.
2. Turn the roll 180° and unroll in the opposite direction, making sure to
align the edges of the mat (figure 7).
Turning 90°
1. Free one run of the cable from the mat, taking great care not to damage it.
2. Install the freed portion of the cable to the installation surface with the
anchors provided (if installing on a rigid insulation) or with pieces of cut
substrate that you staple (figure 6) or glue (making sure not to touch the
cable with the tip of the hot glue gun). When changing direction, always
make sure that the cable maintains a minimum radius curb of 4.5 cm
(1 3/4 in).
3. Make sure the 15.2 cm (6 in) spacing between cables is observed in all
directions and that the spacing to the wall is consistant.
4. A small cold spot will result from this operation. Make sure it is by the
wall in a low traffic area.
Installation of a heating mat
Your Concrete Mat Xpress is built with a self-adhesive substrate that will
facilitate its installation. When handling the mat to go around certain objects,
it may sometimes be necessary to install the mat on its non-adhesive side. In
such situations, secure the mat using the methods outlined below.
Based on your installation plan, run your floor heating mat in the lengths
required, cutting the mesh (careful not to cut/damage the heating cable) in
the appropriate locations.
Apply light pressure on the self-adhesive substrate to ensure adhesion of the
mat to the floor throughout the installation. Avoid removing the mat once
it has been pressed to the floor to make sure it doesn't buckle. If installing
on a rigid insulation, secure the mat with the anchors provided at every foot
while alternating sides (figure 8). If installing on plywood or OSB, staple the
mat (figure 9). If installing on concrete, use hot glue, making sure not to touch
the cable with the tip of the hot glue gun (figure 10).

Please note that the plastic anchors are designed to perfectly fit around
the heating cable. Under no circumstance can you staple the cable; the
functionality of the system could otherwise be compromised. Only the
substrate can be stapled.
Wet environment installation
The Concrete Mat Xpress can be installed in a wet environment such as a
European style shower floor, the deck of an indoor inground pool (Canada
only), or a sauna with ceramic or natural stone floor.* However, additional
precautions must be observed.
• The thermostat must be located at least 1 m (3 ft 3 in) away from the wet
zone* so that it cannot be reached by a person in that area.
• The shower must have its own heated mat.
• The installation must be performed in accordance with all other
instructions mentioned throughout this guide, such as minimum distance
from the drain, installation of the cable in walls is strictly forbidden, etc.
* Applications must be validated with local and/or national electrical codes.
