Item-No. 62 03 63
Intended use
The product is used to automatically scare off animals such as dogs and cats e.g. from your own
garden.
The product is operated by means of four Mono type batteries (not included) or a provided pow-
er supply unit can be mounted and used indoors as well as outdoors (power supply unit must be
operated in dry indoor areas and must not get humid or wet!).
A passive IR sensor is integrated, which can detect temperature changes in the areas covered
(e. g. when an animal passes by). The product produces a strong ultrasonic sound (for people
normally not audible) or a very loud alarm signal. Additionally a flashlight is activated .

compliance with the operating instructions! Liability for any and all conse-
quential damage is excluded!
We do not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by
improper handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The war-
ranty is voided in these cases.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible
because of safety and approval reasons (CE).
• The animal deterrent with flashlight is designed for mounting in indoor and outdoor
areas. When mounting the product in outdoor areas please pay attention the instal-
lation position, otherwise water may enter the product.
The provided power supply unit is only designed for dry use indoors, it must not get
damp or wet, lethal danger through electric shock!
• The product can be operated by means of 4 „Mono" type batteries or the power
supply unit (230V~/50Hz).
• The product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children. Children can-
not judge the dangers involved with handling the device.
• Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around since this may become
a dangerous toy for children.
• Handle the product with care. It can be damaged through impact, blows, or acci-
dental drops, even from a low height.
General instructions relevant to batteries and accumulators
• Batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying about openly. There is a risk that the bat-
teries can be swallowed by children or pets. In such a case, seek instant medical attention!
• Batteries or rechargeable batteries may never be short-circuited, opened or thrown into fire.
There is a risk of explosion!
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries may cause acid burns when coming into
contact with skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves.
• Do not recharge normal batteries. There is a risk of fire and explosion! Only charge recharge-
able batteries, which are intended for this purpose; use suitable rechargeable battery charg-
ers.
• Make sure that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/accumulators (pay attention
to the negative and positive terminals).
• In case of longer periods of non-use (e.g. during storage) remove the inserted (rechargeable)
batteries to avoid damage by a leaking battery.
• Recharge rechargeable batteries every three months, otherwise self-discharging may lead to
total discharge and damage the rechargeable batteries.
Functional description
The PIR sensor detects the approaching heat radiation. If the radiation changes very quickly, the
integrated ultrasonic sound signaller (ultrasound or siren) and the flashlight are activated.
For this reason, the unit is also activated by passing cars, quickly changing solar

radiation, passing persons, etc.
°
After activation, the sound signal will be emitted for about 10 seconds.
For animals the ultrasonic sound is very disturbing and therefore, they will leave the signal area
very quickly.
Thereby, with this product a certain area can be kept free of dogs and cats.
Set operating modes
The different operating modes are set by using the two slide switches at the back.
„off / sensor / continue": Setting the flashlight
• „off": In the position „off", the flashlight is switched off.
• „sensor": The flashlight is automatically activated for about 10 seconds, when the PIR sensor
recognises a movement.
• „continue": The flashlight is activated continuously. In this operating mode the PIR sensor is
switched off, the siren is not active either.
Bear in mind, that the power consumption is quite high in this operating mode, therefore the pro-
vided power supply unit should be used here.
„ultra / both / alarm": Selection of the sirens
Two different sirens are integrated in the animal deterrent: An ultrasound siren (in the main not
audible for people) and a „normal" siren.
• „ultra": The ultrasound siren is activated.
• „both": The ultrasound siren and the normal siren are activated.
• „alarm": The normal siren (conventional alarm signal) is activated.
Operation with batteries
• Take off the rear panel, this is only clipped on.
• Insert four size „Mono" type batteries with correct polarity (observe plus/+ and minus/-, see pic-
ture in battery compartment) into the battery compartment.
• Replace the rear panel again.
• Mount the product to the wall, see chapter „Mounting".
Operating with power supply unit
• Take off the rear panel, this is only clipped on.
• Connect the low voltage plug of the provided power supply unit to the corresponding jack.
• The batteries are normally not required when operating via the power supply unit, when oper-
ating via the power supply unit these only serve as emergency power supply upon failure of
the mains supply.
In case you want to use this function, insert 4 „Mono" type batteries, as described above, with
the correct polarity.
• Replace the rear panel, be careful not to squeeze or otherwise damage the cable.
• The power supply unit must be operated in dry indoor areas.
The product must not get damp or wet as this will damage it; danger of a fatal elec-
tric shock!
• Mount the product to the wall, see chapter „Mounting".
Mounting
The back contains two openings which can be used to hand the housing to the wall e.g. with two
screws.
Please note:
• Mounting is only permitted on a vertical wall; so the flashlight shines upwards. If mounted dif-
ferently, water can penetrate the housing!
• As already described in the safety instruction, the power supply unit can only be used in dry inte-
riors, it cannot become damp or wet, danger of electric shock!
• When drilling holes in the wall, be careful not to damage any cables or pipes.
• Do not point the PIR sensor at heat sources. Thereby, the detection of animals which are
crossing the monitored area is inhibited.
• Locate the PIR sensor so it can not be triggered unintentionally. This could happen for exam-
ple, if cars are passing or if you point the PIR sensor at a pavement where people are pass-
ing by.
• When selecting a mounting place, make sure that direct, intensive sunlight, vibration, dust,
heat, cold and moisture are avoided.
Cleaning
The product is maintenance free, this is why you should never open it or take it apart (aside from
the jobs described in this operating instruction). In order to clean the product just use a clean, dry,
soft and lint-free cloth which can be moistened with some lukewarm water in case the product is
very dirty.
Especially, clean the surface of the lens system in order to ensure a good detection quality.
However, do not use too high a pressure on the lens system (risk of scratches or damage).
Disposal
a) General
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statu-
tory regulations.
b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used
batteries/rechargeable batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Contaminated batteries/rechargeable batteries are labelled with these symbols to
indicate that disposal in domestic waste is forbidden. The symbols for dangerous
heavy metal constituents are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (name on bat-
tery/rechargeable battery, e.g. under the trash icons on the left).
You can return used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge to any collecting
point in your local community, in our stores or in any other store where
batteries/rechargeable batteries are sold.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
Tips and instructions
• The illumination used for the flashlight cannot be exchanged.
• In order to guarantee a long service life, the PIR sensor should not be triggered unnecessari-
ly. Select an appropriate installation location.
• If the product is used in an apartment give the animal a chance to get out. Permanent subjec-
tion of an animal to ultrasonic sound is cruel!
• Animals have different levels of sensitivity to ultrasonic signals. While some escape immedi-
ately, others may not be affected as much.
An accustoming effect is also possible. You could then change the mounting location, for
instance.
• Animals could become aggressive or bite, or such like, if the product is used in their environ-
ment. If you notice this with your dog, for instance, for safety reasons you should stop using
the product in your house or your pet's environment.
