The Profile Cutting Device, RILLFIT six, is used primarily for cutting profiled
■
grooves in rubber tyres.
The cutting device must only be connected to an AC supply that is indicated
■
on the type plate.
Electricity flows through the cutting knife and heats it up. The current switches
■
on automatically as the knife is pressed into the material being cut. Interruption
of the pressure means a power interruption and enables sharp jagged cuts by
turning the device in this currentless condition. Heating of the knife in the air
results in its annealing and, therefore, should be avoided.
Each cut must be made quickly. Cutting too slowly allows the knife to become

too hot. Light formation of smoke, charred edges of the cut and a clogged
knife are indications of cutting too slow, or the power setting is too high.
The knife is clamped at the knife head by clamping jaws. With the jaws in the
■
normal position, all conventional knives can be clamped. Exceptionally large
knives can be also clamped by rotating the clamping jaws.
Because a large magnitude but a very low risk voltage flows through the cut-
■
ting knives, the clamping jaws and the knife head must always be clean and
must be cleaned periodically using a suitable solvent. A poor electrical contact
will result in insufficient heating of the knife and is detected by increased resist-
ance when cutting.
After cutting several times, carefully clean the knife head using a solvent.

The transformer has 4 power settings, which can be individually activated by
■
the rotary switch. The appropriated power setting is stated on the packaging of
the knives. To switch off the device, turn the rotary switch to the position "0".
If work is interrupted for a longer period, disconnect the plug from the socket.

If cutting is undertaken at a higher power for a longer period, the connecting
■
cable between the transformer and cutter handle will become warm. This heat
will cause no damage to the device.
Removal of the manufacturer's name label is not permitted and will result in
■
invalidity of the warranty.
Only the Original-RILLCUT knives may be used.
■
A fire could be caused if the device is not handled correctly.
■
Be very cautious if using near inflammable materials.
■
Do not use in an explosive atmosphere.
■
Before the device is packed away after use, let it cool down.
■
Neither the connection cable nor other inflammable materials must come into
■
contact with the hot parts of the device.
The device must be correctly disposed of in accordance with the local regula-
■
tions of your country of residence.
The device is completely maintenance free.
■
The device must not be exposed to rain or moisture.
■
If the connection cable of the device is damaged, this must be replaced by the
■
manufacturer, their service department or similarly qualified persons, in order
to avoid hazards.
