OPERATION
USING THE COMPRESSION TESTER
NOTICE! To ensure accuracy of readings, and prevent possible
damage to your vehicle and this tool, do not use on a hot or
cold vehicle engine. Ensure the engine has reached its normal
operating temperature before proceeding.
Consult the Compression Tester Compatibility, to ensure you
have chosen the correct adaptor before proceeding. If you are
uncertain, you may also check with the manufacturer's manual for
your vehicle. An image that includes a map of the contents in this
kit, is included in this manual to help you make the correct choice.
1. Turn off engine and disable distributor or ignition coil.
2. Open and secure the throttle to full open position.
3. Remove all spark plug leads.
4. Remove spark plug.
5. Thread the correct adapter for your vehicle, into the spark
plug carefully and hand tighten only.
6. Press ON button briefly. The read-out gauge will show 0.07.
Connect the gauge to the extension hose.
7. Crank the engine until the maximum reading is obtained.
8. Press the release valve to vent the compressed air and record
the pressure value and the cylinder number. The gauge will
hold the reading for 90 seconds or until the RESET button is
pressed. Ensure reading is set to 0 before moving forward.
9. Remove gauge from the spark plug carefully.
10. Repeat steps 4 through to 9 for each cylinder.
11. Return throttle to normal operating position.
12. Return distributor or ignition coil to normal
operating condition.
