Inserting batteries, changing batteries
• Open the battery compartment by moving the small clip on the underside with the fingernail
in the direction of the battery compartment cover. After this, the battery compartment cover
can be removed.
• Connect the battery clip with a 9 V block battery. Observe the correct polarity.
• Insert the 9 V block battery correctly in the battery compartment and close the battery com-
partment again (do not use force!).
• It is necessary to change battery when the display contrast decreases or the battery symbol
"
" on the upper right on the display flashes. Then change the batteries quickly, because
the empty batteries can leak and damage the product, resulting in loss of guarantee/warranty!
Please note:
The operation of the measurement device with a rechargeable battery instead of a
battery is possible. However, the operational life is much shorter due to the lower
capacity of the rechargeable battery.
We therefore recommend using only high-quality alkaline batteries, instead of
rechargeable batteries to operate the measurement device.
• A battery symbol on the upper right corner of the display indicates the state of the inserted
batteries.

device switches off automatically accordingly
Operation
a) Switching on/off, calibration
• Switch on the measurement device by pressing and holding the button " " (3) for 3 seconds.
Subsequently the measurement device performs the required calibration process. Then
"0 %" should be shown on the display.
The measurement device must be calibrated every time it is switched on. Hold the
measurement device in the air during the switching-on/calibration process so that
the humidity sensor (1) does not touch any object. Keep a minimum distance of 10
cm between the sensor and the objects.
Do not touch the humidity sensor with your hand during this period.
During the calibration period, you should not take the measurement device with the
other hand or position the hand or finger on the measurement device.
When that is not observed, no sensible measurement can be performed as a result
due to faulty calibration.
If the measurement device is to be calibrated again, switch it off and then on again.
• To switch on, press and hold the button " " (3) for 3 seconds.
b) Selecting material
By pressing the "Mode" button briefly (4), you can change between wood (symbol "
and concrete/masonry (symbol "
") in accordance with the material on which you want to
measure the humidity.
c) Making measurements
After the measurement device has been switched on and the selection of the material, the
measurement process can be conducted.
Keep the ballhead of the humidity sensor (1) at a right angle to the surface as much as possible
(keep the measurement device perpendicular to the surface) so that the ballhead touches the
surface.
It is not necessary to press the ballhead firmly against the surface. A light touch is
enough.
During the measurement process, you should not take the measurement device with
the other hand or position the hand or finger on the measurement device. Due to the
sensitive sensor, there can be changes to the measurement value.
The corresponding measurement value of humidity is shown in the display.
d) "Freeze" measurement value display
When you press the button during measurement "
display remains "frozen" even when you take the ballhead of the humidity sensor away from
the surface. The symbol "
" appears on the display.
This way you can take a reading of the measurement more conveniently.
To continue measuring, simply press the button briefly "

e) Audio signal function
To measure big surfaces more conveniently, the audio signal can be switched on. When the
ballhead moves over the surface, the measurement device emits audio signals. The more
audio signals are emitted, the higher the humidity is.
Switch on or off the audio signal function by pressing and holding the button "
for 3 seconds. When the audio signal function is switched on, the symbol "
in the lower left corner of the display.
On the display, the humidity will be additionally indicated with 3 raindrop symbols. See the
following table.

0.1% - 9.9%
10.0% - 16.9%
17.0% - 23.9%
24.0% - 29.9%

40.0% - 59.9%
60.0% - 69.9%
70.0% - 99.9%
f) Power-saving function
The measurement switches off automatically after 3 minutes when no change in the
measurement value occurs to save energy.
Care and cleaning
• Disconnect the product from the power supply before cleaning.
• Clean the product with a dry, fiber-free cloth.
• Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions as
they can cause damage to the housing and malfunctioning.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the house-
hold waste. At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the
relevant statutory regulations.
Remove any inserted (rechargeable) batteries and dispose of them separately from
the product.
b) (Rechargeable) batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used (rechargeable)
batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Contaminated (rechargeable) batteries are labelled with this symbol to indicate that
disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden. The designations for the heavy metals
involved are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (name on (rechargeable)
batteries, e.g. below the trash icon on the left).
Used (rechargeable) batteries can be returned to collection points in your municipality, our
stores or wherever (rechargeable) batteries are sold.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
