GAME PLAY
Washer Toss Game Play and Set Up
GAME SETUP:
• Before you begin, recruit on person (i.e., Singles) or three people (i.e., two teams) to play with you. Play is between two
players or two players per team, one member from each team will stand next to each target.
• Select a level playing area to setup the Washer Toss targets so that they face one another about 5 to 15 feet apart
depending on the skill level of the players.
• Toss a coin to determine which player or team throws first.
• Similar to the game of horseshoes, washers land best when tossed underhand. Place a small amount of back spin on
the washer to help it stay in the box or cup, or try throwing like a flying disc.
RULE OF THE GAME:
Object of Game:
Washer Toss is a challenging game. Each
player takes turns tossing washers into the target box. Each target has a white cylinder center cup. 1 Point is awarded for
each washer that is tossed into and stays in the target box, and 3 points are awarded for landing a washer into the center
cup.
Scoring rules:
• Washers missing the box entirely are awarded no score.
• Washers landing inside the box are worth 1 point.
• Washers landing in the cup are worth 3 points.
• The first player or team to reach 21 points
Game play:
• Similar to horseshoes, team players split up, with one member at each box.
• When playing singles, opponents toss from the same side.
• Each round consists of player taking turns throwing 3 washers into the target box.
• Watch out for get-away washers, especially on pavement! Stop play until stray washers are captured.
• Do not walk to the opposite box or get in the line of toss prior to the completion of all throws, an exception is if play halts
due to a runway washer.
• Switch boxes after the first player or team reaches 11 points.
• Play continues until one player or team reaches 21 points and wins!
Bean Bag Toss Game Play and Set Up
GAME PLAY:
Boards are placed 10- 27 feet (8.23 m) apart from the front edge of the Bean Bag Boards. Distance is determined by the
skill level of the Players
RULES OF THE GAME:
• The bean bag toss game can be played with 2 or 4 players. When 4 players are used, team members stand at opposite
ends and may throw from either side of the box.
• Each player throws from behind the front of the boxes. This is the foul line. The player must not pass the foul line or the
players throw does not count and the bag is removed from play. Play alternates Player/Team until each player has tossed
their bags.
• Each team alternates shots beginning with the team that had scored last.
• Determine 1 and/or Team 1 by tossing a coin, or some other suitable method. For following rounds, the team scoring
the highest points in the round.
• Bean bags may be tossed in any way the player chooses, as long as they are tossed individually.
• Players must not step across the foul line (front edge of the Bean Bag Board) during a throw, or that throw does not count.
• Point Values (based on level) are as follows: In Hole = 3 Points, On Board = 1 Point
• No Score - Bean bags that miss the hole scoring.
• To Win – Play to 21. There are alternatives for declaring a winner: 1) the winning team must lead by at least two points;
or 2) requiring an exact score to win. If a round's score would put a team over 21, that round's score is not used.
