Welding helmets do not provide unlimited eye, ear and face protection. Always wear ANSI Z87.1-2003 compliant safety spectacles
in addition to any welding helmet.
Inspect the auto-lens frequently. Immediately replace any scratched, cracked, or pitted cover lenses or auto-lenses.
Severe burn injuries may result if these welding helmets are used for heavy-duty overhead welding applications where there is a
potential for falling molten metal.

Before First Use
Inspect the welding helmet for the following:
1. The front and inside cover lenses are secure under all the tabs.
2. Damage to the inner and outer cover lenses (e.g.; cracks, scratches, pitted, welding spatter).
3. Test your shade cartridge prior to welding by directing the front of the cartridge toward a bright source of light. Then, using your fingers, rapidly cover and
uncover the sensors. The cartridge should darken momentarily as the sensor is exposed. A torch striker can also be used.

Adjust Headgear for Proper Fit
1. Headgear tightness – Push down and rotate the knob located on the back of the headgear left or right.
2. Distance from helmet to face adjustment - Loosen the tension knob on both sides and slide forward or back to desired position ensuring equal distance on both sides of the
headgear. Note! Make sure both sides are equally positioned for proper operation.
3. Head size adjustment - Adjust headgear for proper depth on the head for correct stability and balance.
4. View angle adjustment - Loosen the tension knob on the right side of the helmet, lift and reposition the lever forward or backward to the desired position.

General Operations
1. The sensitivity control is designed to make the filter lens more responsive to different light levels. Use toggle switch to adjust as required for application.
• Low: Normal sensitivity - for typical SMAW, MIG and TIG welding indoors and outdoors.
• High: High sensitivity - for low current or stable arcs (e.g. TIG welding at low amps).
2. The delay control is used to adjust the hold time of the filter lens after welding is completed. Use toggle switch to adjust as required for application.
• Min: Fast recovery to light state - for spot or tack welding. (e.g.; need to have a clear view quickly after finishing the weld).
• Max: Delayed recovery to light state (e.g.; high amperage applications where bright weld pools must cool briefly before viewing).
Variable Shade Control - The shade number can be set from 9 to 13 by turning the shade control knob until the arrow points to the desired shade number
and/or toggle switch.
• Premier Series ™ Grind Mode Selection - Rotate the shade control knob counterclockwise to grind, for grind.
• Advantage Series ™ and Master Series ™ - rotate sensitivity knob to 'grind'.
Note! Do not weld in the grind mode; grind mode is intended for grinding only not for welding.
3. Low Battery Indicator- LED will flash when the battery requires replacement. It is recommended that batteries be replaced immediately when the low
battery indicator is flashing. (Advantage Series ™ and Master Series ™ Only).
4. Lens Test- To test for functionality of the lens, press the 'Test' button. Users should see the window flash light and dark. (Advantage Series

Note! Be sure positive (+) side of the battery faces up.
Care and Maintenance
• Keep the sensors and solar cells clean. Clean the filter cartridge using a soapy water solution and soft cloth which should be damp but not saturated.
• Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaning detergent.
• Replace parts with only genuine Forney replacement parts.

Avant la première utilisation
Inspectez le casque de soudeur afin de repérer les éléments suivants :
1. Les couvre-lentilles avant et intérieur sont bien en place sous toutes les languettes.
2. Dommages sur les couvre-lentilles intérieur et extérieur (p. ex. : fissures, éraflures, piqûres ou projection de soudage).
3. Testez votre cartouche teintée avant de souder en dirigeant l'avant vers une source lumineuse intense. Ensuite, couvrez et découvrez rapidement tous
les capteurs avec vos doigts. La cartouche devrait s'obscurcir temporairement lorsque le capteur est exposé. Vous pouvez aussi utiliser un allumeur de
chalumeau.

Le casque de soudeur doit être ajusté de manière à se positionner devant les yeux et le visage afin d'assurer une protection adéquate

Ajuster le casque de manière adéquate
1. Étanchéité du casque - appuyez sur le bouton situé à l'arrière du casque et faites-le tourner vers la gauche ou vers la droite.
2. Ajustement de la distance entre le casque et le visage - desserrez les boutons de tension sur les deux côtés et glissez le casque vers l'avant ou vers l'arrière
jusqu'à la position désirée afin que la distance soit égale des deux côtés du casque. Remarque! Assurez-vous que les deux côtés sont à égale
distance pour un fonctionnement adéquat.
3. Ajustement selon la dimension de la tête - ajustez la profondeur du casque afin d'obtenir la stabilité et l'équilibre adéquats.
4. Ajustement de l'angle de vue - desserrez le bouton de tension sur le côté droit du casque puis soulevez et repositionnez le levier vers l'avant ou vers
l'arrière jusqu'à ce que vous obteniez la position désirée.
