638 nm diode type:
Similar to the red tint of the 637 diode.
The beam is slightly wider (4 × 4mm and 2mrad).
650 nm diode type:
Dark red with a very vivid tint, yet the diode provides only fair
quality. The beam is very wide and due to this a lot of power
(in galvos) gets lost. It can still pass for being economial when used
with low power. The diode can appear 5mW to 1.5W. The typical
output beam is 8 × 8mm and 3mrad.
RGB lasers will consist of three sources: green, red and blue. The combinasion
of those will allow you to mix all colors and white. You must be very careful
about the color balance.
It is very easy to create a system with "high power RGB". If you combine 2W of
650nm red, which is pretty dark, and 100mW of green along with blue,
it creates a 2.1W RGB laser. But that one will only be red and really dark.
For example: to obtain white you could combine
200mW 532nm green +
600mW 650nm red +
400mW 445nm blue = 1.2W
Or
200mW 532nm green +
200mW 637nm red +
150mW 473nm blue = 0.55W
However, these two different combinations will have exactly the same visual
impact! The total power is often just a marketing argument if you are unfamiliar
with the power of each color and its wavelength.
