Safety rules for kickbacks

The kickback occurs when the tip of the guide bar
touches an object and when the wood blocks or
compresses the saw chain during cutting.
To prevent kickback, keep control of the chainsaw firmly
in both hands.

Felling a tree

Look carefully at the tree and the surrounding terrain
before you start cutting. Check that there are no other
persons in the felling area.
Prepare for retreat when the tree starts to fall. Take off
any branches present in the lower part of the log to a
height of about 2 meters.
▪ Make a cut perpendicular to the plant, corresponding
to 1/4 of the diameter of the log, starting from the
part where the fall is expected;
▪ Approximately 10cm above, start a second cut that
will join with the end of the first one;
▪ This will create a notch cut that will determine the
direction in which the plant will fall;
▪ Now make the real logging cut (on the opposite side
of the first cut,) which should be made 4 or 5cm
higher than the first cut;
▪ Always leave a hinge that allows control of the felling
direction;
▪ Place a felling wedge, before the tree starts to move,
to prevent the guide bar from getting stuck.

Limbing

Always start cutting from the branch with largest
diameter, and head to the tip to limb the plant or any
secondary branches.
Always look for the most stable and safe position before
you speed up the chainsaw. If necessary, keep the
balance by supporting the knee closer to the log itself.
Keep the chainsaw resting on the log so as not to tire
you too much by rotating it on the left or right side
according to the position of the branch to be limbed.

In the case of under tension branches, look for a safe
position to protect yourself. Always start the cut on the
opposite side of the bend.
Do not use the upper edge of the guide bar for
cutting branches as a kickback can occur.

Pruning

Before starting to cut the log, make sure that is on the
ground, this will allow you to cut it in the correct way,
preventing the guide bar from getting stuck in the
middle of the log.
Start cutting from the top, approximately 1/3 of the
diameter. Finish the cut at the bottom.
Thus, the cut will always be perfect and the guide bar
won't be stuck in the log.
Start cutting from the bottom, approximately 1/3 of the
diameter. Finish the cut at the top.
If the saw chain gets stuck in the wood, stop the
engine, lift the log and change its position. Do not
try to release the saw chain by pulling the chainsaw
handle.

Fuel

The engine should run on a mixture of 95 unleaded
petrol and 2-stroke engine oil in the ratio of 1:40 (1L of
two-stroke engine oil for every 40L of petrol).
1. Put the 2-stroke engine oil in a fuel mixing bottle;
2. Add petrol to 2-stroke engine oil;
3. Place the mixing bottle cap and shake carefully to mix
the oil with petrol;
Unsuitable fuels or with a different ratio than
recommended may lead to irreversible damage to the
engine. Low-quality petrol or oil can damage the engine,
gaskets, hoses and the fuel tank.
Keep the fuel mixture in proper and adequate
containers in a safe, dry, cool place protected from
sunlight. Fuel mixture ages; mix only the amount
needed for a few weeks. Do not store or use fuel with
more than 30 days.
