Shutter speeds: I s to l/500 s and B
At the B setting the diaphragm remains open as long as the
release button is depressed.
Use a cable release lor time exoosures!
Warning (Fig. 3)
A red marking will be found opposite the l, | /2, and | / 4 s shutter speeds
on the shutter speed ring. This is to warn against erroneous exposure
caused by prematurc closure of the auxiliary shutter before the lea/-
shutterhas had time to conclude an exposure at a slow shutter speed. The
auxiliary shutter remains open only while the release button is
depressed.
So keep the release button pressed until the between-the-lens leafshutter
has closed.
Exposure value (Fig. 4)
The aperture speed combination opposite the central index (2) determines
the exposure. Every such combination has an equivalent exposure value
0).
The shutter speed scale (8) and the aperture ring (5) of the lens can be
cross-coupled by pressing the button for cross-coupling of shutter and
diaphragm (6). When this button is pressed, the shutter speed/apefture
combination can be changed without altering the exposure value (EV).
So, the shutter speed ring is automatically reset to a slower speed when the
aperture setting is changed from,e.g. 78 to f/l l.
Focusing (Fig. 5)
The lens is focused with the focusing ring (15). The ring is turned until the
subject is as sharp as possible on the focusing screen. Rock the focus back and
forlh around the point of apparent maximum sharpness before you stop.
The distance from the subject to the film plane is read offon the distance
scale ( I ) opposite the central index (2). White numerals indicate the distance
in meters and orange numerals the distance in feet.
