Intended Use
The megaphone is used to amplify and record (only model XB-7S with recording function) announcements
and to playback warning signals or music (only model XB-7S) at meetings, demonstrations, sport event etc.
The power supply must only be executed with batteries (type: see "Technical data").
Using the device outdoors when it is raining is inadmissible since the housing is not waterproof.
Direct contact with sources of high humidity is also to be avoided.
Any use, other than that described above, may lead to damage to this product and involves other risks, such
as short circuit, fire and electric shock.
No part of the product must be modified or rebuilt.
Always observe the safety instructions.
Safety instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions! We do not assume liability for any resulting damage.
We shall not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by incorrect
handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions. The warranty will be void in such
cases.
The exclamation mark symbol indicates important information in the operating in-
structions. Carefully read the complete operating manual before commissioning. It
contains important information on correct operation.
The arrow symbol indicates special information and advice on operating the device.
• For safety and approval (CE) reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modifications to the product are not
permitted.
• Please make sure that you operate the device properly. Therefore, please follow the operating instructions
carefully.
• This product is not a toy, it is not suitable for children. Children are not aware of the potential dangers when
using electrical devices.
• Never pour any liquids onto electric devices and do not place any liquid-filled objects onto them.
• Do not place open sources of fire such as burning candles alongside the appliance.
• The product generates very high acoustic pressure that can lead to hearing damage on direct exposure.
Thus, use the device responsibly and do not aim directly at people or animals. Keep sufficient distance from
people and animals when operating the device and do not operate it within small rooms.
• Do not expose it to high temperatures, strong vibration or dripping or spray water.
• Only use the appliance in a temperate climate, and avoid a tropical environment.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around unattended. It may become a dangerous toy for children.
• You should also heed the additional safety instructions in each chapter of these instructions.
• Pay attention to the applicable regulations and laws e.g. for the prevention of accidents, when using it in
commercial or public places. As the operator, you must obtain information from the authorities in charge and
you are responsible for observing the valid laws and regulations.
• If you are not certain how to use the device correctly or in case of any questions not covered by the operating
instructions, please contact our technical support or another expert.

Inserting batteries / replacing batteries
Keep batteries out of the reach of children.

Make sure that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries.

Remove the batteries when the device is not being used for long periods of time.
Leaking or damaged batteries can cause burning if they come into contact with the skin.
For this reason you should use suitable protective gloves.
Make sure that batteries are not short-circuited or thrown into fire. Do not attempt to
recharge the batteries. There is danger of explosion.
• Switch the device off. The button ON/OFF must not be depressed.
• Press the release knob above the hand grip and open the red housing lid.
• Insert four new 1.5V mono cells (D) in the battery compartment, paying attention to the polarity. The correct
polarity is stated in the battery compartment.
• Close the battery compartment again by shutting the housing lid. The latches of the release knob must snap
into place.
• If the maximum volume decreases or the device does no longer work the batteries are discharged and have
to be replaced.
Operation
Do not point the megaphone directly at people or animals.
Keep a sufficient distance from other people and observe the setting of an appropriate
volume level in order to avoid hearing damage.

If there is acoustic feedback while operating (loud whistling noise) reduce the volume or
try to point the megaphone in another direction.
Maintenance and care
Apart from a battery change, the megaphone is maintenance-free.
Clean the outside only with a dry or damp cloth.
Never use aggressive cleansing agents or chemical solvents since this might damage the surface of the
housing.
Disposal
Please dispose the product, when it is no longer in use, according to the current statutory
requirements.
Disposal of used batteries/storage batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batteries/rechargeable
batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Thereby you comply with the legal obligations and you contribute to the protection of the
environment.
