The EC1-040 represents an ideal solution for refrigeration applications
working at low temperatures requiring electric or hot gas defrost. Three
relays are dedicated to the control of compressor, evaporator fan(s) and
defrost; the fourth relay offers a multifunction output (light, alarm etc...)
EC1-040 comes complete with two programmable inputs (see param. A4
and A5). The temperature range between -19.9 and +19.9°C is displayed
with decimal point. The thermostat must be connected to a 12VAC power
supply. Transformers for 230V or 110V mains supply, an IR remote
control and the NTC temperature sensors are available as options.
DISPLAY:
During normal working conditions, the display shows the value measured by the
regulation sensor. In case of active alarm, the relative code is displayed.
SET-POINT:
• Press the SEL button for one second to display the set-point value;
after two seconds, the set value blinks;
• Press
or to increase or decrease the value;
• Press the SEL button to confirm the new value.
MANUAL DEFROST:
• Defrost cycle is automatic. It is also possible to force a defrost cycle by
pressing the DEF button for more than 5 seconds (Only possible if
defrost conditions are present).
ALARM BUZZER OFF:
• Press the PRG (MUTE) button to silence the buzzer. The alarm code
remains displayed until the alarm condition is rectified.
AUXILIARY OUTPUT:
• Press the
button to energise / disenergise the auxiliary output. (Only
possible if output not used as alarm (H1 = 0))
CONTINUOUS CYCLE:
• Press
and simultaneously for 5 seconds to enable/inhibit the
compressor's continuous cycle.
PARAMETERS:
The parameters have been divided into two categories:
CATEGORY 1: User setup (type = F in the table); no password is
required to enter

Important: Keep controller and sensor lines separated from mains cable

CONFIGURATION FOR THE MULTIFUNCTION INPUTS
The digital multifunction inputs can have different functioning modes
depending on the value of the parameters A4 - A5. See table below:

1 Immediate external alarm (open contact = active alarm)
2 Delayed external alarm (open contact = active alarm) Delay=A7
3 Defrost disabled (open contact = defrost inhibited)
4 Start defrost (start defrost when the contact is closed)
5 Door switch (open contact = open door): When the cold room door
is opened the control turns OFF the compressor and the evaporator fan.

If H1=0 the output AUX is used to turn on the light.
6 Remote ON/OFF
If A4=6 and A5=6 the control is ON with both digital inputs closed simultaneously.
7 Curtain switch
If one of the two inputs is controlled by a curtain switch, the control modifies the set-point
value by adding the r4 parameter value, when the contact is closed. Eg.: Set-point = -5°C;
r4=3°C; curtain open: Set-point = -5°C;
If the auxiliary output is utilised to the light management (H1=0), the turning down of the curtain
automatically turns OFF the light; on the contrary, when the curtain is lifted, the light turns ON
DUTY SETTING (PARAMETERS A6 and c4)
In case of room sensor failure (E0 blinks), the ON routine of the
compressor is defined by c4:
if c4 has a value from 1 to 99,
the compressor will go on working for a set c4 time (min);
the OFF routine of the compressor will last 15 minutes.
if c4=0 the compressor will be always OFF
if c4=100 the compressor will be always ON
In case of external alarm (Al or Ad blink), in the digital input (A4=1; A4=2)
the ON routine of the compressor is defined by A6:
if A6 has a value from 1 to 99, the compressor will go on working for a
set A6 time (minutes).The OFF routine of the compressor will last 15
minutes. If A6=0 the compressor will be always OFF
