6. Once the unit has been running for approx 3-4 minutes you will see a small amount of
water trickling out of the drain tube.
OPERATING TIP: In order to ensure efficient water use, ensure water will not blow off the
evaporator, and to protect the humidifier's solenoid valve there is an orifice fitting installed on
the outlet of the solenoid valve and a water inlet filter installed on the inlet of the solenoid valve.
If the unit has turned on and the green light is on but no water is getting to the evaporator pad,
check that the inlet filter or orifice fitting is not plugged (refer to maintenance guide).
7. After about 5 minutes of running turn your thermostat down so the furnace cycles off. IT IS
IMPORTANT TO ALLOW THE FURNACE TO CYCLE OFF VIA THE THERMOSTAT AND NOT THE
MAIN FURNACE SWITCH, AS ALL FURNACES WILL RUN A COOL DOWN TO ALLOW HEAT
TO CIRCULATE OUT OF THE FURNACE HEATING CHAMBER. The humidifier will sense the
temperature drop and shut off (this will occur depending on your furnace, from 60 seconds
before the furnace shuts of to 60 seconds after the furnace shuts off.) You will know the
humidifier has shut off because the green "HUMIDISENSE" LED on the front of the humidifier
will shut off (Figure. 23). If the humidifier is not cycling properly refer to the HUMIDIFIER
OPERATION section below to adjust the temperature settings or select another control method..
OPERATING TIP: Most furnaces will take anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes to complete
a off cycle. First the furnace will sense that the thermostat is satisfied then the furnace burner
will shut off. The furnace fan will continue to run (the amount of time depending on how your
furnace is set up) this allows the heat to circulate out of the furnace heating chamber and
assures efficient use of heating fuel.
HUMIDIFIER OPERATION
HUMIDIFIER CYCLING CONTROL
It is necessary to control the ON and OFF cycles of a flow through style humidifier because
they allow water to flow to the drain and running the humidifier continuously will consume
a lot of water. You want the humidifier to cycle based on % Relative Humidity, this is
accomplished by using the provided humidistat. As well you want the humidifier to cycle
based on furnace heating cycles, this is accomplished using the HUMIDISENSE control.
The HUMIDISENSE control is a temperature and time based control designed to cycle the
humidifier ON and OFF in sequence with your furnace's heating cycles. As there are many
different furnace styles the HUMIDISENSE control has 4 different temperature settings. Refer
to Section 1 for a brief explanation of these.
Depending on your heating system it maybe necessary to bypass the temperature activation
feature and use an external switch (sold separately) ie Air Pressure or Air Flow Switch mounted
on your furnace's ducting to sense air flow during furnace heating cycles, activating the furnace
humidifier. Refer to Section 2 for an explanation of how to set this up.
If the HUMIDISENSE temperature control or the external switch are not an option you may
choose to interlock the humidifier to the furnace heating cycles via the furnace's 24 VAC
thermostat terminals using two conductor thermostat wire (sold separately). Refer to Section 3
for an explanation of how to set this up.
If above three options do not meet your needs you can complete a traditional flow through
humidifier installation. A different transformer (sold separately) is required and an HVAC professional
is recommended. Refer to Section 4 for an explanation of how to set this up.

SECTION 1. DIP SWITCH TEMPERATURE SETTINGS.

FACTORY SETTING (1 & 3 OFF, 2 ON) (Figure 25).
Humidifier ON - Temperature rise of 4°C in one minute & a
temperature greater than 30'C.
Humidifier OFF - Temperature drop of 2°C in one minute & a
temperature less then 45°C.
OPTIONAL SETTING #1 (1 & 2 ON, 3 OFF) (Figure 26).
Humidifier ON - Temperature rise of 4°C in one minute & a
temperature greater than 30'C.
Humidifier OFF - Temperature drop of 2°C in one minute & a
temperature less then 35'C.
OPTIONAL SETTING #2 (1 ON, 2 & 3 OFF) (Figure 27).
Humidifier ON - Temperature rise of 4°C in one minute & a
temperature greater than 30°C.
Humidifier OFF - Temperature drop of 2°C in one minute & a
temperature less then 55°C.
OPTIONAL SETTING #3 (1 2 & 3 OFF) (Figure 28).
Humidifier ON - Temperature rise of 4°C in one minute & a
temperature greater than 30°C
Humidifier OFF - Temperature drop of 2°C in one minute & a
temperature less then 65°C.
To Change the HUMIDISENSE temperature settings the humidifier must
be energized but not running. If the humidifier has not shut off after a
furnace cycle, turn down the furnace's thermostat. Unplug the humidifier
for a few minutes and allow the humidifier to cool down. Then plug the
humidifier back in, turn the humidifier's humidistat all the way up. Now
the furnace should be OFF and the humidifier NOT running.
Change the DIP switch to the desired setting. After you have
changed the DIP switch setting unplug the humidifier for one
minute. Plug the humidifier back in and wait another minute. The
HUMIDISENSE temperature setting is now changed (Figure 29).
