INTRODUCTION
This wireless module is designed to be installed in a Wi-Safe 2
compatible smoke/heat alarm or Wi-Safe 2 compatible Carbon
Monoxide alarm which offers an additional option for wireless
connectivity (and which is not already wireless enabled). For the current
range of Wi-Safe 2 compatible products see www.fireangeltech.com
When the wireless module is fitted into a Wi-safe 2 compatible
FireAngel Safety Technology Limited smoke/heat alarm or carbon
monoxide alarm it enables the unit to be wirelessly interlinked with
other Wi-Safe 2 enabled products.
When any of the interlinked products are triggered by smoke/heat
(or carbon monoxide in the case of CO alarms), that unit will transmit
messages to the other units in the network, sounding all the alarms
in the system simultaneously, which means they provide the earliest
warning of fire, to the maximum number of people. Any number of units
from two, up to fifty alarms can be interlinked into a single network.
NOTE: You will need the User Manual of the product into which you are
installing the wireless module in order to then wirelessly interconnect
the product with other alarms in the network. If this is not available
please contact Technical Support on 0330 094 5830 or download from
www.fireangeltech.com
Please read these fitting instructions carefully before proceeding,
paying particular attention to the ESD handling guidelines below.
HOW TO INSTALL A WI-SAFE 2
WIRELESS MODULE (W2-MODULE)
When you're ready to install the wireless module into the compatible
alarm, ensure you observe ESD handling guidelines.
Remove the label which covers the module aperture at the back
of the unit.
Avoid carpeted areas in cool, dry areas if possible, and reduce
static electricity if necessary by touching a grounded metal object.
Carefully remove the module from its packaging, handling
the module only by the protective plastic cover, to avoid
electrostatic discharge.
Be careful not to touch the components or connector pins.
Carefully plug the module into the aperture in the unit as shown,
pushing down until it lies flat within the base of the unit.
The unit is now ready to be "learned – in" (interlinked) to additional
Wi-Safe 2 products.

"LEARNING IN" (INTERLINKING)
YOUR WI-SAFE 2 UNITS
The process below describes 'learning in' two Wi-Safe 2 alarms into a
network, "Alarm 1" and "Alarm 2". Alarm 2 will be the unit into which
you have installed the Wireless Module.
It is recommended that you read through these instructions prior
to starting the process.
Alarm 1: Before starting, refer to the product's User Manual to ensure
the alarm is activated and ready to be learned in, with its mounting
plate (if appropriate) attached. Please test the unit once after mounting
to baseplate.
Alarm 2: Using a pen, a very small screwdriver or paper clip that has
been opened out, briefly push and release the learn button located in
a small hole in the wireless module.
The red LED next to the learn in button will flash briefly then light up
for approximately five seconds to show that it is ready to receive the
"learn in" signal. During the next 5 seconds you will need to briefly
press the test button on Alarm 1 to wirelessly interlink the two alarms.
Alarm 1: Will give an audible sound consisting of 2 cycles of 3
loud beeps.
Alarm 2: The red LED on the wireless module of alarm 2 will flash to
indicate that it has been "learned-in" successfully.
Note: If the test button is not pressed quickly enough (before the red
LED on the wireless module of Alarm 2 has extinguished), the learn-in
process will fail. If this happens, repeat the "learn-in" process again,
as described above.
Additional products should be "learned-in" in the same way. When
learning in additional alarms, any alarm already in the network, can be
used as 'Alarm 1'. This means that you can "learn-in" the additional
alarm into any unit already in the network. It will then become part of
the whole network.
Note: You do not need to "learn in" the additional alarm into each
alarm in the network.
After completing the "learn-in" procedure, test the alarms as described
in "alarm test" in the product's user manual.
If any interlinked alarm fails to respond to the "alarm test", repeat
the learning in process. If the product continues to fail to operate
correctly, please contact Technical Support on 0330 094 5830 or
email technicalsupport@fireangeltech.com
For information about where to position the alarm, and operational
guidelines, please see the User Manual for the host product.

W2-MODULE P-LINE INSTALLATION GUIDE - (EN)
Note: The wireless range of the module is over 200 metres in clear air/
clear line of sight. Always ensure that after any building work or after
repositioning large items of furniture (beds, sofas, shelving units etc.),
you carry out an alarm test on all networked alarms to ensure they are
all still communicating. It is recommended not to exceed 35m as the
maximum distance between any interlinked Wi-Safe 2 alarm. Ideally,
each unit should have three or more units within 35m of its location. RF
range can be reduced by walls, and other obstructions in the building.
The distance between units should be reduced if obstructions may
interfere with RF range.
Unlearning your Wi-Safe 2 Unit:
To remove an alarm from a network, push and release, then push and
hold the learn button. When the red LED goes out, release the button.
Once the LED has flashed 5 times you have successfully 'Unlearned'
the alarm.
When removing an alarm / module from any Wi-Safe 2 network it is
generally good practice to "unlearn" every alarm/module (in the same
way as mentioned before) and rebuild the network once again by
following the "learning-in" process.
NOTE: It is important not to rush the Wi-Safe 2 system and is also
good practice to allow several minutes after un-learning the system
before rebuilding the network once again.
